Badshah (1954)

Here is one of the early movies of that great musical team of Shankar-Jaikishan. In this album, as was in the early years of Shankar-Jaikishan, Lataji dominates. She has six solos and a duet out of eight songs. The remaining solo was by Hemantji. I have collected these songs from CDs, members of the Forum, and other sources. Because of this, the quality is not uniform.

Both solos "Rula Kar" by Lataji and Hemant are beautiful. So is their duet. Hemantji is seldom disappointing. He has this dreamy deep voice that is tiltingly lingering.
