Friends,
We have all heard the magic that Pt. Nikhil Banerjee's sitar created for us but how many of you have heard him sing? I present here two songs by him, a raagprodhan geet and a rabindrasangeet gaan. After hearing this, I am sure you will agree with me that he could have just as easily made a career in vocal music!

Title: asrunadeer shudoor pAne (Rabindrasangeet)

Title: Ashi Bole (Raagprodhan)

Enjoy,

Thanks for the post.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with you about the fact that NB could have made a career in singing after hearing his rendition of "Ashrunadir sudur paare". Given he was up against the likes of Hemanta, Debabrata, ChinmoyC, even Arhgya and Sagar Sen. In those days, Shyamal Mitra, Jaganmoy Mitra, Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey - all had excellent voices, but did not register as a Rabindrasangeet singer. Of course, nowadays, everybody who has some chutzpah is a "singer" - so present times don't apply to your comment/my response.
