Full Version: History And Progress Of Geeta Dutt Forum On Hf

First of all, congratulations to all fans of Geeta ji for completion of 10,000 posts on Geeta Dutt forum.

I want to take this opportunity to go down the memory lane of HF and get some more information about Geeta Dutt forum.

As far as I know, it all started with a thread posted in Mohd Rafi sahab's forum on Feb 7 2004 as Geeta ji's forum was not created yet at that time.

This thread grew and probably requests were sent to admins to create forums for legendary singers like Geeta ji. A sub-forum for legendary singers was created as we still see it today. Geeta Dutt forum was one among them.

Activity continued on this forum and in November 2006, this forum was brought to the main page.

Kind request to senior members to provide more details/correct my information.

I have sent kind requests to senior members of HF who have been active on HF since 2004-2005 to provide some information on this topic. Looking forward to their inputs.

Based on the early posts in Geeta Dutt forum, Mahesh and late Bappa Chatterjee were very active members. Also dharmvir ji, Mahesh Sharma ji (maheshks), Alybaba, Usha ji, BC ji, CM2 ji, Ashraf ji, Bobby bhai were regular contributors here. There is one more talented member who has immensely helped us all the time, unfortunately he is not seen on Geeta ji's forum these days. That's our dear Subir bhai who has helped us with the graphics. He is a master in his field and a great human. I had the opportunity of speaking to him when I was in India. This forum is live and active due to great efforts of these and so many more members.

I am giving this information for the benefit of members who have recently joined HF.

Dear Prag

Your enthusiasm always amazes me.I am happy that I am the one who started a post regarding Geeta ji in Rafi forum.Since the day I heared 'babuji dheere chalna' I am ardent fan of her.Since I am from a remote village of Kerala I had no idea about hfm.Other than Rafi/Kishore/Lata no one else was famous in Kerala.That is why I was not able to identify Geeta Dutt at first.

Don't put me in contribuiter list.Really I dont deserve it.In any of HF fora.Since I was(and still am) so busy with lot of things I hardly get time.What I do is just go through the main posts(discussions) when ever time permits.u/l and d/l are at minimum.

Regarding the history of GD forum I must say the first one to be thanked is none other than Pradeep(I have immense regard for him though I have n't met this person I just adore him) .After that of course Bapa ji and others like Usha ji,Alybaba ji,Mahesh ji and Mahesh KS ji all contributed.But nobody did like you.
I think that Geeta ji is lucky to have a fan like you.

Dear Ashraf bhai, it is very true that we all are so highly obliged to the forum admins for the creation and the progress of the forum. It was the admins who gave us the surprise gift on Geeta ji's birth anniversary by bringing this forum to the main page.

Thanks for posting your inputs. We are looking forward to more and more information from the senior members!

Amazing...and Happy to see the enthusiasm of so many members who kept Geeta's forum so active..Now, am getting a picture of How it used to be on this forum...before i have joined.

I was going through the threads at leisure.What happened to the Photo project Parag?? Was it abandoned?

Yes Venkat, thats so very true. The Geeta Dutt forum what we see today is all due to consistent and great efforts from true Geeta fans who have shared songs, compiled lists, shared unseen pics and have compiled great deal of information about her.

I did not understand what you said about the "Photo project". The only thing what I remember is this. There was one old thread created by Bappa about pics of Geeta ji and I believe there was another one created by some other member. I requested the admins to merge these 2 threads and pin it as an important thread. This is already done.

Hi Erum ji, thanks for adding a link to Alybaba's thread. He is one of the ardent fans of Geeta ji and a great contributor at HF. I am glad that I did get chance to interact with him on some occasions. He has shared so many rare songs (from many languages) on HF. I hope he is doing great and will join HF soon.

Dear Parag,

Heartfelt thanks for remembering the real generous members (as mentioned in above posts) who were dedicated for GG (Great Geetadutt), specially Bappa Ji accompanied with Unni Ji, real mastreos having commandable knowledge about her work & spceialities, which was luring others to dig-out further.

Just rememebring one duet of Geetadutt & Pt.S.D.Batish :-

My very special thanks to you for making hard effort to convert this in main forum from sub-forum.

HT bhai, yes that is so very true. From what I have read, he was a research faculty in one of the universities in the US. He would have been between 28-35 yrs old when God took him away from us.

Mahesh is one of the members who used to interact a lot with him on HF. I believe Mahesh can throw more light on the progress of Geeta ji's forum and Bappa's close association with this forum.

Another relevant information which I thought I should share on this thread. We have another member "Jairaj" ji, who lived in Mumbai (then Bombay) in the same building where Geeta ji lived during her last years. He has some memories of Geeta ji which he happily shared on HF in 2006 November when we celebrated Geeta ji's birth anniversary.

The thread dedicated to the photos of Geeta ji are so unique, in the sense that members have contributed so many rare and never before seen pics of Geeta ji. Thanks to all once again !
