Dear Shri Desai Ji,

This one never fails to bring tears to my eyes. How helpless we all are when our dearones are snatched away from us and we can do absolutely nothing about it...

But please permit me to say that 'fabulous' is totally inappropriate word to describe it.

I have read somewhere that though Mukesh has rendered the song so anguishly, the music composer was not satisfied with it. He had wanted Mukesh to do much better...

If this is true. I don't know what could have the expectation be of Sudhir Phadke Ji.
I bought this movie about 2 years back.

One evening gave it to my parents and family to watch and went to sleep. I woke up later and came to the drawing room where this song was playing. I saw everybody ( 5 - 6 people ) all were in tears.

Perhaps fabulous is poor choice of word on my part. I have read one of the magazine critic describe it as
a devotional song and the lyrics, music and rendering veru much gives that effect. I feel humbled every time I listen to this song, which is quite often . As for MD 's dissatisfaction only he would know the reasons. As a novice fan I am sure of two things from my perspective.

1)If any one can improve the rendering only Mukeshji could .

2) this song renderd by ANY other singer would have been far less effective.

Ramesh..thanks a lot for the song . Sorry, i havent seen your posting. First time i hearing to the song..it is very touching rendition indeed..Interestingly, there is a telugu film called Vadina Gaajulu means..Bhabhi ki chudiyaan ! Havent heard any songs from that film, though it earned a lot of good name for all concerned...Will let you know , if I find there is a song with this tune in that film... Thanks again..

The fact is Sudhir Phadke obviously composed the song keeping in mind the voice of Mukesh. When we say he was dissatisfied, it only indicates his feeling that mukesh Ji could have rendered it even better, and certainly he could not have meant it to be bad as it was sung...

Clearly, we can not imagine the song in any other singer's voice.

Subash ji,

I realise that. I actually have a lot of respect for Sudhir Phadke. Specially for recognizing
Mukeshji's ability to give us such a gem. And knowing the legends of the golden era I would not be surprised
if Mukesh himself thought the same way. I read Sardar Malik saying Mukesh rehearsed Saranga's title
song for Thirty days before they were both satisfied. Of course the song turned out to be Gem and Sardar
Malik is recognise by Saranga.

Actually Sudhir Phadke hime self is a pretty good singer, although I have not come across his songs
specially in hindi. But I saw him sing Joyti Kalash chaalke on BBC tv and was very impressed.

PS. It would be better if you drop Shree and ji and use just Ramesh.

I have Sudhir Phadke's really good and inspiring song from Aanchal. (music C. Ramchandra/lyrics Kavi Pradeep). But it is in low bitrate and if you wish , I can e-mail it. I cannot upload it here.

Of course, you must be knowing that Kishore Kumar's hugely popular Khush Hai Jamana aaj Pehli Taarikh hai is also composed by Sudhir Phadke...
