These are recordings of the Baba when he was in his nineties (97 to be exact). Hearing them one can only imagine what he was in his prime (physical prime that is). His disciple list reads like a whos who. Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and Ma Annapurna Devi learnt from their father and some of the other famous disciples of this Senia Maihar Gharana saint include Pandit Ravi Shankar, Pandit Pannalal Ghosh and Pandit Nikhil Banerjee.

The recordings are large and split into multiple files.

I hope you've had a chance to read my response in Nikhil Babu's thread but I wanted to re-iterate how priceless these recordings are for Maihar students like me, especially those who live abroad and find it hard to get hold of recrodings like these that are not widely sold in stores. I hear that the AIR archival release was a set of 5CDs:

Thank you for the reply and the request. Yes, I do have all the 5 CDs and will download them over the next week or so. While we in India are fortunate to be able to lay our hands on such precious CDs, we are not as fortunate (yet) in terms of our internet speeds!!

Here is a rare treasure from Baba: He plays an elaborate recital in Raag Bhairav on Esraj. Recorded from All India Radio, this reflects Baba's versatility in playing instruments other than Sarod with equal ease.
