This was an out and out comedy Dev made. It was directed by his older brother, Chetan. Kishore, who song his first playback song for Dev Anand in 1949 (forgot the name of the movie; by the way Kishore also had a small role as an actor in that movie) has his histroinics as a singer in complete display here by Burman-da. There is "Ae Meri Topi" a comedy song by Kishore. He also sings "Dukhi Man mera." A song full of pathos. One of may all-time favorites of Kishore. Then he has couple of duets with Asha. Both are done beautifully. The talents of SD and Sahir come together once again very very successfully, like many times before, in this movie. The combination proves formidably admirable. After the pinnacle achievement of Guru Dutt's "Pyaasa" Sahir and SD never worked together again. I am not sure what happened. Too bad ...
