"shaam se aankho.n mein" was recorded by Mukesh for a film called "Mitti ka Dev" (196?). Sadly this film was nover completed and the soundtrack and the partly made film tapes was burnt in a fire. Although this film had three other great songs none of the songs survived. I heard that one beautiful song was by Lata - "koi piyaa se kahe jaao naa" (Bengali version "Jodi baarono karo tabe jaabo naa")
However, it seems that "shaam se" somehow was smuggled out during/after the recording and its now available in the net and from fanatic Mukesh collectors.
Could it be that other three songs were also smuggled out ?
For full details about this film go to salilda.com/filmsongs/hindi/mittikadev.asp
The Bengali version "Mon maataal" is enclosed.

ps: It also appears that there are four other versions of "shaam se". Gulzar the lyricist was quite generous it seems !

Can anyone kindly provide information regarding name of the FILM etc. for the beautiful song 'SHAAM SE ANKH MEIN' by MUKESH.
The song is based on the same tune of 'MON MATAL SAANJH SAKAL', bengali song composed by Salilda and sung by Mukesh.
- Sita.
