Mother India scriptwriter Raza dead

MUMBAI: Ali Raza, who wrote the script of classic Hindi film Mother India, on Friday passed away at the Nanavati Hospital here a after brief illness.
Raza, in his early eighties, was admitted to Nanavati Hospital in suburban Mumbai about a week ago, a release said.
As a writer he began his career with Andaaz in 1949 starring Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kuamr and Nargis directed by Mehboob Khan.
He also wrote script of classic Mother India starring Rajendra Kumar, Nargis and Sunil Dutt. His other noted scripts include Saraswati Chandra (1968), Sawan Bhadon (1970), Raja Jani (1972), Bhai Bhai, Reshma Aur Shera (1971) and Dus Numbri (1976).
He also wrote and directed 'Praan Jaye Par Vachan Na Jaye', which was Sunil Dutt's comeback film starring Rekha and also wrote dialogues for her films Barsaat, Aan and Andaz.
