So My question is when did transition from
Urdu poetic songs to semi classical songs because
early on any song that is talking about hindu mythology
was written by another lyricist. Granted this song is
standard krishna theme without much complication in
terms of lyrical content.

Panghat pe dekho aayi milan ki bela(Naujawan_1951) has Krishna Leela as its theme.
Darshan pyaase and Man Sheetal (Jeevan Jyoti 1953) have heavy use of sanskritised Hindi , and the second one refers to Raghunandan and Janak nandini.

I think either S. D. Burman
or some other MD has said
this either in Guru Dutt documentary or
some article I have read in the past.

PS: 'Humsafer' ke baare me main galat tha Humsafar ke records hain. Aur ab mere paas hain. Isliye aapko baaki songs talash karne jahamat nahin uthani padegi.

So this is the only song in Shole by Sahir.
Funny thing Hemant Kumar's Discography doesn't list it
so I am assuming it is two songs combined.

Ranjishji, this list is incomplete. They haven't even listed the other song from this flick Shole - Anokha Jadugar Bhagwan. Another song that comes to my mind right now is Main Gareebon Ka Dil Hoon Watan Ki Zubaan from Aab-e-Hyaat 1955 , which is also unlisted.
