Let me strat from my side.
You all will have to bear with me as I am upoading a file (and not esnips widget, but which I plan to do in furture).
This great song left a deep impact on me (tears in eyes whilst watching the movie as a kid). Even today it haunts me. By no means I would want you to go to sleep as the song says.
Anyway, this is how I recorded
1) used a poor microphone (lot of noise)
2) took the karaoke tract, reduced the tempo (so enough time to breath), reduced the pitch (to fit my vocal band)
3) played the track and recorded in my natural voice
4) added some echo to the voice track as necessary

I think this song is in little high tempo. And I know you have reduced the pitch but just wanted to know there is any slow version of this song and which was sung in this tempo?

Sanjay, I dont have slightest doubt on how beautiful u have sung this song. The karaoke track is not at all your fault. I rather feel that your lovely voice has overridden that fault. Just one suggessions is that make use of putting effective gaps and breath in between two words. It helps enhance the expressions more effectively!

Many thanks for your comments suggestions. I think the karaoke track is good but my microphone is shi..... As soon as I switch it on it just gives me big background noise.
For my upload, I also got some suggestions from a close friend that I need to free up my voice. I know my breathng is horrible, I cannot modulate well and in an (people) environment I cannot free up my voice (for whatever reason, I believe very shy).
As a remedy, while driving to work alone, I parked somewhere and sang the following song (recorded on a digital mp3 player), uloaded on PC and added some echo. The sound quality is ok, but more importatntly I think at least the voice feels more free.
I would like to appologize in advance for my poor pronounciations.
I don't think there is a karaoke track available for this song (if someone has it I would be grateful)

Hey Sanjay, come one DONT, DONT and DONT ever feel sorry for anything. I totally understand the concern of your close friends. They might be right as they also SEE you while u sing. And as I can not see you while pronouncing words, I can not 100% comment on it. BUT, when I hear ur voice and ur pronounciations, I feel there could be only 5% prob which also I am assuming because I dont SEE you while singing.

Secondly, REALLY REALLY CHANGE YOUR MICROPHONE.

And if u feel ur voice is not open, I have gr888 idea to open it up... I works very well... Do u have a Harmonuim or Synthesizer? Just let me know!!

Please allow me to explain,

1. My microphone is a very ordinary type. Its Logitech Mic which came as complementry with my web-cam. I will take the snap of how I record the songs.
2. For such ordinary mic, one has to sing each and every word clear with consistant breathing pressure. And when I sung this song, there were so many times when my breahting varied from one like to another. Such mistakes can be easily rectified in the professional studios which uses professional microphones, mixers, monotors, etc.
3. Lack of practice
4. Consistance Distance between the mic and singer MUST be maintain for the complete song for such poor quality mic.
5. Even my filter is also very very funny!!! Its one of the kitchen accessries Anyone want to see my Home Studio????

I hope in my next recordings I will try my best to look into such matters more meticulously and consistantly!!

U need Echo?? I use Audacity software to record my songs and to add Echo in the songs is very easy in Audacity. Audacity is a freeware software which you can get anywhere. Just go to Google.com, Type 'Audacity' and click on search. You will find the link, then u download the software, install it and start using it.. Its dead simple!!! Let me know if u find any difficulty in doing that

DId u installed? Once u install, then you have to record something in ur voice. Then select your voice recording and then

click on 'Effect'
click on 'Echo'
Enter 'Delay time' : 0.2
Enter Decay factor': 0.3
Click 'OK'

After doing this, click 'Play', then u will hear ur voice with the Echo Effect..

That will be great! (putting on esnips) But I'll take some time with this as this is my least favorite song of Kashmir ki Kali. There are 3 great duets, and one great fast number and one great sad number and another great solo (subhanalla, haseen chehra). So 'Kisi na Kisise' and 'Balama Khuli Hava' takes a backseat in my choices.

But not anymore. I'll look at 'Kisi na Kisi se' with a fresh perspective and bring it up to the level of other songs

Now, Thanks to HT bhai, Azad bhai, OMkar Bhau and AnwarFan Bhai for appreciations and providing helpful comments and tips. I agree with Azad bhai (well caught), I was nervous and I was (some) off-notes & my breathing was very poor during "Main Gaaoon Tum..." etc.
OMkar bhau provided good tips on changing the microphone. Today afternoon, I made it to buy a new microphone, saw an opportunity (no one at home) & recorded following two songs. Here they are!
I must say the new microphone works wonderfully.
I tried to put the songs in eSnips and found quality degradation, so I am tempted to provide here files again (& no esnips widgets, as one day I need to find out the cause for that).
Anyway, ....Microphone testing.....first song with background karake track, second song without background (free singing). Both songs are purposely one stanza only (cannot afford to bore you).

Your new mic seems to have made perceptible difference. Can you pls tell us what was your old mic and which is your new one?

I heard your 'Pukarata Chala..' And you have packed a lot of emotions! You sounded very smooth at lots of places, and it is only a matter of practice to sing the whole song smoothly. I thought the phrase 'zulf ki' sounded different to the original, and you might like to check that out.

And since this is song full of subtle nuances, I think you have done a wonderful job on the whole!

A suggestion. Why don't you open an esnips account and upload your songs there? Benefits:
1. Those who wd like to d/l and listen to your songs need not worry abt ratio.
