This compilation was released last year through Sound Master and I wasn't able to find any online-streaming versions of the songs for the users here. I am not sure if all Mehdi Hasan fans here would like these. But, still some songs have been performed really well.

Unfortunately, I have never heard these singers before.
My favourite Mehdi Hasan song, Usne Jab Meri Taraf Pyar Se, isn't in this compilation.
Extenok, the only version of this song that I've heard is perhaps recorded in the 1990s or 80s. Is there an older version of this song as well, when his voice hadn't undergone a drastic change? I do love his voice in this song, but was just curious.

I'm including one of my favourites here by Khalid Waheed from the same album.

I first heard this ghazal around 12 years ago, in a compilation that included two ghazals each by Ghulam Ali, Mehdi Hasan, Talat Aziz and Jagjit Singh. The other Mehdi Hasan ghazal in it was Mujhe Tum Nazar Se, sung with his gravely voice of the recent years. Ghulam Ali's were Tanha Tanha Dukh Jhelenge and Khoobroion Se Yaariyan Na Gayin, Jagjit Singh's were Hum Dosti Ehsaan Wafa Bhool Gaye Hein and Main Kaise Kahoon Jaaneman.

u know extenok, mehdi hassan was the reason ustaad amanat ali khan sang ghazals. it is said that ustaad amanat ali khan sang ghazals ony to prove to mehdi hassan that even a hardcore classical singer can also do justice with ghazals..

and here we have shafaqat amanat ali.. singing mehdi hassan's ghazals.. wow..

well ofcourse if u r comparing him to asad amanat ali khan.. he's been in the music scene even when his father was singing. actually, this family has a tradition of singing in pairs.. amanat ali fateh ali, asad amanat ali and hamad ali (i have a few classical tracks as duets from these two too).

secondly, shafqat's not even the first in his family to try pop singing. asad amanat ali has already tried .. and failed at it in the early to mid eighties. he gave up partly because ppl were sarcastic towards his efforts.. and the whole family of singers has always looked down upon pop singing (and to some extent ghazal singing.. i have a recording of ustad fateh ali, in which he says to the crowd and i quote, "dekhna chahye ke kya ho raha hai.. bol pakarna mushkil hai" as he refers to the "sum" or the completion of one cycle of the beat, then says "log heer ga ker daad pa kar chaley jaatey hain, humen bhi chahye the ke ghazalen gaa ker, naam kama ker chaley jatey. aakhir kya zaroorat thi? dimagh khraab tha hamara ke itne mushkil kaam pakra? yeh cheezen nahi milti.. umren guzar jati hain...")

this is from ustaad fateh ali who claims to do "ryaz" 10 hours every single day...and who.. i'm afraid.. has been left un heard of to many.

shafqat ali, in my opinion is doing a great job. he stands his ground with classical vocals.. and yet appeals to the crowd. but if u ask any die hard fan of this partcular family.. they would say its still a disgrace...
