The tagline of this new movie says, "Excitement Has A New Name"! And why not, when the movie's title goes like ' Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav '.

But hold on!
Before you take this to be a political satire or so, let's clarify that PLPY has none of it. Instead, it is a rip-roaring action comedy about the characters that go by the names of Padmashree, Laloo, Prasad and Yadav. Played by Masumeh Makhija, (who impressed with her vulnerability in ' Chupke Se' and Maqbool and takes a complete image makeover from being plain Jane to oomphy), Suniel Shetty, Mahesh Manjrekar and Johny Lever this is one film where 4 characters get to play title roles!

Laloo (Suniel Shetty) suffers from “shesightophrenia”, a psychological disorder wherein he goes out of control when he sees a good looking girl, forgetting that he is in love with Padma (Masumeh Makhija). Laloo works for a local don Uncle Tom, helping him to recover money. On a mission for Uncle Tom, he encroaches on Tom’s girlfriend Rita. Junior Uncle spills the beans to Padma. And Laloo is in a soup.

Padma, his girl friend, is quite fed up of his regular cheating on her. After one such incident, Padma decides that enough is enough. She takes a flight to Cape Town to recover some jewels, which are rightfully hers, since her father’s partner wrongfully stole them. It’s beside the point of course that the jewels were stolen property anyway! Padma lands in Cape Town to discover Laloo already there to receive her-after endless bouts of asking for her forgiveness. Laloo is finally pardoned for the nth time.

Laloo tells Padma that he knows how to take care of the man they are hunting. But Padma refuses to take his help claiming that she will use her charm and sex appeal to get the jewels out of the don. However Laloo insists that he will do it his way. Padma and Laloo corner the don while he is driving down to conclude a deal. At gunpoint, the don reveals that the jewels are in a locker in a bank – the ‘National Bank’. Before he can disclose the locker number, the don collapses and dies of fright, thanks to Laloo snarling at him with the gun.


Padma takes off on Laloo that had it not been for him and his bright ideas, she would have had the locker number by now. Laloo says that there’s only one thing they can do now and that is to rob the bank where the locker is. He claims to know a local thug here called Johnny, a club owner, and his sidekick called
YADAV(JHONNY LEVER)[B]who will help them rob the bank. Padma smacks her head in disgust!! But Laloo says that it’ll be the cleanest heist ever!!

Padma and Laloo meet

Johnny and his sidekick Yadav who are professional thieves. The four rob the bank, recover the stolen jewels, (now re-stolen) and split outside the bank. Johnny and Yadav run with jewels while Padma and Laloo follow them. Johnny deposits the jewels in his personal safe, the whereabouts of which only Laloo & Padma know. While escaping from the bank, Yadav nearly runs over an old lady (Shashikala) with three dogs who becomes a witness to the robbery.



Now that the jewels are out from the bank, Padma has no qualms about giving a “neat boot” to the three. A quick calculation reveals to her that 100% is four times more than 25%. So why share with anyone what is rightfully hers? And the game of double cross starts! Padma calls the cops and informs them of Johnny having robbed the bank. The cops pick up Johnny who has a feeling that someone squealed on him.

Padma knows that Laloo is an expert safebreaker and so she decides to break open the safe through him. She uses her charm to persuade him to break open the safe where Johnny has hidden the jewels. Padma is about to cross Laloo too after he has opened the safe. But they are shocked to discover an empty safe! Johnny has had the last laugh – he’s shifted the booty somewhere else!

Padma now switches her charms on
Prasad (Mahesh Manjrekar)[B], the lawyer who is fighting for Johnny. Padma slowly bowls him over and he falls heads over heels in love with her and is totally smitten by her. In the process, Padma starts falling in love with him too, but only to make Laloo jealous. Padma is trying to extract the information out of him as to where the jewels have been hidden by Johnny. Laloo is now feeling left out. He feels that Padma is slipping out of his hand and he is slipping out of her heart. He decides to teach both of them a lesson.

But he has not reckoned with Yadav who is also a victim of Padma’s charm! Yadav finds Padma gorgeous, someone he had always dreamt about but could never get hold of. So if Laloo has to get even with Padma, it’s going to be only over Yadav’s dead body.

So the game of one-upmanship keeps happening, till finally the jewels do land in Padma’s lap – but she has three men now who love her dearly – Laloo, Prasad and Yadav. And two of them have to lose out to the third!! Guess as to, who will be nursing broken hearts?

The film is slated for a September release.
