Sad indeed. Another talented composer gone.

I think lyrics and compositons in ' Hamari yaad aayege' were simply great. Equally well renderd by Mukesh - Lata and Begum Akhtar.

It is indeed sad to see another composer, who was part of the golden era in HF, leave us. May his soul rest in peace.

The name Snehal Bhatkar immediately brings to my mind 3 songs :

1. Lehron pe leher - sung by Hemant Kumar in the film Chhabili (1960) - which is very strongly connected to the name Snehal Bhatkar - since it was possibly his most popular song - heard on the radio very frequently during its days.

2. Kabhi tanhaiyon mein, hamari yaad aayegi - the haunting, soulful song composed by Snehal Bhatkar and rendered so well by Mubarak Begum, from the film Hamari Yaad Aayegi (1961)

3. The song which made film and music fans aware of actress Nutan's singing abilities - 'Ae mere humsafar, rok apni nazar' which she sang so well under Snehal Bhatkar's baton for Chhabili - a film produced and directed by her mother Shobhana Samarth (a film in which both her daughters Nutan and Tanuja acted together).

May his soul rest in peace.
