Whenever I heard this great song from my childhood, what used to strike me as really beautiful were the beginning and the end of the song, much more than the rest of the song.

In the beginning and the end, we have those divine lines, "Jiyaa Jaaye, Piya Aaja" repeating three times each. And there is a subtle variation in tune between the beginning and the end..

This song is no less than its more famous counterpart from the same Film, "Thandi Hawayen Lehraake Aaye". This Film is also note-worthy for the somewhat westernised orchestration SDB deploys.

Many sincere thanks, Exon, not only for uploading my request, but for clearing a confusion in my mind. Actually, the Vividhbharati announcer yesterday had mentioned that the MD for this song is JAIDEV. You see, these Vividhbharati folks are very knowledgeable and accurate, generally.

So, as I always knew that Bipin Babul is the MD for Raat Ke Rahi-1959, I was wondering whether I heard the announcer right when she said, "Raat Ke Raahi". I went on searching for any Raat Ki Raani, etc. under Jaidev, but couldn't find any!!

So, based on your clarification above, we can conclude that this nice Asha solo is indeed from Raat Ke Rahi-1959, but was composed by Jaidev and not Bipin Babul.
