Sunnybhai --- is one song missing in this album? unsure.gif I vaguely remember a Lata solo in it. Or are the wordings different from what I know?

The song, 'bombshell bay of Bombay...' sounds like Elvis or other western tune.
Does anyone know if this is indeed a copied tune?

Hum Tum,

Thanks for the link. It has a wealth of information on copied tunes.
The site lists the Lata song 'sochh rahi hoon' as copied tune; but didn't list the 'bombshell baby' song.
Bombshell baby song's background music reminds me very much of Elvis songs.
I simply love SJ's semi-classical tunes. But when they turned to west, I stopped following them.

Bombshell Baby of Bombay is THE featured track (and the name of one of the volumes) on a set of compilations released last year for the "western" audiences, and I don't now if the version uploaded has it, but the introduction to the song leads you to believe it is Elvis, of course it is very much inspired by him and a tribute to him.

If anyone needs tracks from those 2 cds let me know, they are brilliantly remastered! I personally think they are brilliant compilations, well chosen playorders and all.

Thanks for the rest of the tracks, Sunny! smile.gif

The owner of itwofs recently joined HF in search of a song here. Unfortunately I bet he gets more hate mail then people writing in to cite more inspirations, but the yahoo and google groups associated with that site cite many of them.

Anytime!

thanks Kishore for the Rafi songs

I think the song that most influenced that track would be Elvis' Blue Suede Shoes, but I definately hear some of this other songs that don't come to mind at the moment in that track as well. Shades of Jailhouse Rock too.

Qadir, Deewani and Rafibhakt, most welcome, Friends.

Deewani, I really marvel at your knowledge and awareness (for want of a better word)

Sweet of you to say Sunny, but trust me, compared to many members here, I know nothing!! They mention album names and everyday I'm like ? mellow.gif LOL!!! I just know the music I grew up with and listen to. You're a welcome addition to HF for sure! Thanks again for this one. Rafi sahab's Baby Doll number fit right in with the Bombay Connection theme, lol. And I love the "Dil Hai Mera Indian-Make" in Tirchi Nazar. laugh.gif

Iqbal Singh was a crooner in night clubs/restaurants in late 50s and early 60s in Bombay. Probably, the song was written and composed by him and the band with which he was associated with. I am not sure though. It could be S-Js composition.

Another famous crooner in those days was Pam Crain (originally from Calcutta).
