Okay googled for the song with "nazrul" thanks to Shaibaal and came across some more interesting trivia on "Roz Akeli Aaye". The song was not used in the film as it was supposed to be sung by Meena Kumari and she was so ill that it could never be shot. Gulzar refused to have the song in the film as a background song so it was not included...
Two stanzas of the song were released but there were actually three stanzas. Apparently Gulzar released the song in one of his compilations and this one had a different stanza along with the common one. The compiled song is uploaded in the salilda.com site that was created by his ardent fan Gautam Choudhury.
Here is the compiled version of the song... (the first stanza is missing in most available copies of the song...)
Roj akeli aaye re roz akeli jaye
Chand katora liye bhikharan raat
Motiyon jaise taare aanchal mein hain saare(2)
Haye re phir kya maange bhikharan raat...
Roj akeli...
Jogan jaisi laage na soye na jaage(2)
Bani gali mein jaye bhikharan raat...
Roj akeli...
Roj lagaye phera hai koi nanha savera(2)
God mein bhardo aayi bhikharan raat...
Roj akeli...
Gulzar and raat and chand are old friends... here he gives a very definite twist to the usual romantic imagery used in hindi songs for raat and chand... Raat as a "bhikaran" with the chand as her "begging bowl"...
I protest for 'Roz Akeli Aaye' song.
I have seen Mere Apne very next day, when it was released, I still remembers this movie for
-Roz Akeli Aaye song picturised on Meena Kumari but cant remember whether the song was in background OR by Meena Kumari but the song was very much there. (perhaps, later on it may have been removed, if so then why !?!? )
-The other song Koii Hota Jisko Apna Hum Apna Keh Lete Yaaro ,remained head-hunting for quit long period.
-Handsome young Vinod Khanna
-Young khoonkhaar Shatru having cut mark near his lips
-Thaki-Thaki Sii Meena Kumari
- College students Gang War (I was newbie in college hence it had made strong IMPACT in memory)
It was a emotional movie.
After seeing the movie, I remarked -Gulzar a dangerous entity.
Next his movie I have seen was Masoom. My God !!!.
After seeing this movie, I noted down in my diary(after few months, of course it took months to came out of his trauma) Not to see his movie again.
Bhoole-Bhatke, Doston Ne Mousam dikha di. Haaye Rabba !!!
Bhai Sahab, Kaan Pakad Ke Uthak-Baithak Ki, Teen Dafaa, Sapney Mein Bhi Gulzar Movie Nahin Dehkoonga.
And you know, I have seen Aandhi on Chhaya Geet (TV). I mean the song & for me , it was almost equal to see whole movie. The song was..
Tere Bina Zindagi Se Koii
Sikwa To Nahin
& the killer dialogues inserted in between
Sanjiv Kumar: Suno Arti, Ye Jo Phulon Ki Belen Nazar Aati Hain Na Ye Darasal Arabi Main Aayaten Likhii Huyi Hain. Inhe Din Ke Vaqt Dekhna Bilkul Saaf Nazar Aati Hain. Din Ke Vaqt Ye Paani Se Bharaa Rahataa Hai. Din Ke Vaqt.. Ye Jo Phuvvaare Hain.....
Suchitra Sen: Kyon Din Ki Baaten Kar Rahe Ho. Kahaan Aa Paauungi Main Din Ke Vaqt
Sanjiv Kumar: Ye Jo Chaand Hai Na Ise Raat Main Dekhnaa... Ye Raat Main Nikaltaa Hai..
Suchitra Sen: Ye To Roj Nikaltaa Hogaa
Sanjiv Kumar: Haan Lekin Kabhii Kabhii Amaavas Aa Jaati Hai. Waise To Amaavas 15 Dinon Ke Baad Aati Hai Lekin Is Baar Bahut Lambi Thhii
Suchitra Sen: Nau Baras Lambi Thhii Naa..
Sitar takes over as another awkward silence builds up in moments....
Jee Main Aata Hai
Tere Daaman Main
Sar Chhupa Ke Hum
Rote Rahen ,Rote Rahen
Bhai-Logo, Mere Jaise Aadmi Ke Liye Itna Hi Dose Kafee Hai Agar theater Main Film Dekhta to Stretcher par hi Baahar Aata.
Later on, many friends asked me to see his other light movies, like Parichay, Khoobsurat etc, but I said -NO, Uski Hansee main bhi rona chhupa hota hai hence not seen openly (chori-chori chupke-chupke dekh hi letaa hoon, bina dekhe bhi nahin rahaa jaata na. Haan, dekhta huun par instalment mein, thoda abhi toda baad mein. Eksaath digest nahin kar pataa huun) exception was 'bawarchi'
