'Aadhi Raat' showcased Husnalal-Bhagatram at their very best. If Lata's "Rona hi likha tha kismat mein" fleetingly escapes your mind, it is only because her "Dil hi to hai tadap gaya dard se bhar na aaye kyon" is so omnipresent there. "Dil hi to hai" remains a personal favourite of Lata till this day - but, for us uninitiated listeners, is it not Hobson's choice, between "Dil hi to hai" and Lata-Rafi's "Humen duniya ko dil ke zakhm dikhlaana nahin aata" - a duet bearing the H-B 'chhaap" through and through? Here, then, are 5 'Adhi Raat' delicacies:
