Yes Irfan, thats very true. Another song for which I came to know that it was Geeta Dutt was "Aaj ki raat piya" from Baazi.

Many songs of hers I heard on radio in childhood were an instant appeal without knowing the singer's name

These 2 duets and 3 solos are some of the rare works of Geeta ji with O P Nayyar in late fifties. The irony is that the heroine of the movie was Waheeda Rehman.

Well KK, its quite difficult for a Geeta Dutt fan to write about this. Still I will give it a try..

Guru Dutt was involved with Waheeda , hence Geeta ji stopped giving playback to her. Thats why it was Asha ji who sang for her in CKC, SBG
Even in Kalabazar, Geeta ji gave playback to Rimzim ke tarane which was played in background and not picturized on Waheeda

Since the search on a singer and a MD is not working, I simply searched all songs compposed by OP Nayar.

Howrah Bridge had most songs by Asha but for Mera Naam Chin Chin Choo picturised on Helen he chose Geeta.
She had the best sensuous voice which later inspired Ashaji. (Later most of the Helen songs were sung by her).

The lyricist of this song is Saroj Mohini Nayyar, the better half of composer O P Nayyar. C H Atma sang it as a private song.
Later Guru Dutt took it for his film Mr and Mrs 55 (1955). The name of the hero in the film is also Preetam.
(Was it that way just for this song ? I wonder !)

And yes, Saroj ji was not sure if any singer other than C H Atma will be able to do justice to this lovely biraha song.
Geeta ji (as usual) sang it from her heart and and what a song it is ! Of course the best song from the film is
'Thandi Hawa Kaali Ghata' (many have said that this song describes the essence of Geeta ji's singing.)

Even in a regular club song 'Neele aasmaani' (filmed on Cuckoo) she puts so much emotions and makes it so pleasant on the ears.
