Regarding Aa Jaan-e-Wafa, I have always wondered, why is this song always missing from the CDs and cassettes of Anarkali? Was it not in the film? I first learned it from one of my cassettes called Khazana Geeta Dutt Evergreen Hits.

The music of movie Anarkali was initially supposed to be composed by Basant Prakash (brother of Khemchand Prakash). He recorded one song "Aa jane wafa" in Geeta ji's voice. Then the MD was replaced with C Ramanchandra and all the songs were recorded in Lata ji's voice.

The producers decided to retain the song sung by Geeta ji in the film.

Thats what I know !

Thanks Parag, really appreciate it, I had been wondering ever since I bought that cassette, at first I thought it may have been another Anarkali, but later with the web came to know it was the same, so I wondered.... I didn't know he was Khemchand's brother. Still, it's part of the soundtrack and the music company really should include it everytime, ah well.
