Lakshmi ji,
Thanks for bringing this thread and carnatic music back to life on Raag Rang. It's been dormant since GKS stopped visiting us sad.gif Though I mostly listen to Hindustani classical, Carnatic music was my first love and I grew up listening to it. Revathi is also one of my favorites, it has such a vedic and spiritual feel to it that is unmatched by any other raaga. Have you heard Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia play its Hindustani equivalent Bairagi?

Another favorite of mine is Abheri. I am uploading a nice flute recital by shri N.Ramani where he plays Nagumomu.

Laxmi, thank you very much for the song. It appears, Seshagopalan's rendition is in Raga Hindolam. I was looking for the same song in Darbari Kanada. However, I also liked Seshagopalan's version.
Thank you once again for taking all the trouble to upload this beautiful song for me.

My dad wanted me to learn carnatic music. I was more into pop and rock music. I refused to learn. When I came to U.S in1967, I started attending concerts innew york city.I started liking carnatic music and regretted not learning. I like ragas like revathi sindhu bhairavi, abheri, hindola, chamaram kalyana vasantha. I amglad that this forum hassomecarnatic music lovers.

Have been away from HF for quite a while, and seems like this is another thread which I've missed visiting!!! Great thread.. and thanks Lakshmi-ji for initiating it.

I have a decent collection of carnatic songs .. mostly by Sudha Raghunathan and Unnikrishnan .... which I had downloaded from coolgoose about a year or so back for my dad. I dont understand much of carnatic music (in fact, an elaborate raaga aalaapana would put me to sleep sad.gif), but love most carnatic bhajan and krithi renditions.

Would try and contribute a few that I recognise from time to time smile.gif

Yesterday, I had uploaded as attachment, a violin recital by MSGopalakrishnan (Raagam Naatai) size about 4 MB. But it does not appear here though it is visible in My Controls. All submission from me appear to require approval by the Board Admin. I request guidance on how to upload and share some recordings which I have.

NATURE
last week on monday, a dream came true. i saw ustad ji live, attended his concert
touched his feet, bow.gif took some photographs with him. it was really a dream come true,
which i had been dreaming for more than 10 years. bow.gif

ustad zakir hussain along with u.srinivas(mandolin), sivamani(drum) and shankar mahadevan(singer)
it was a part of their group called "remember shakti".

remember shakti consists of 5 artists: john mcLaughlin(guitar), zakir hussain (tabla), u. srinivas (mandolin),
shankar mahadevan (singer), and v. selvaganesh (kanjira, ghatam, mridangam)
so only 3 participated in the show.

u.srinivas played it well, it was a wonderful experience. liked this guy
the most amazing part of ustad ji's playing style is the variation he shows on his tabla
be it different kind of sounds, or exact matching of the pitch at which fellow artists are singing/playing.

anyway, my uploads will be of u.srinivas, 2 pieces of music on carnatic classical

sorry it's not song, it's just instrumental.
