hello guys, i just wanted to start this thread dedicating it to the Bhangra Maestro's of the 80's especially the Uk bands such as Alaap, Heera, Premi, im sure this will appeal to the UK crowd more than anyone else.

Another excellent thread initiated. Will join in tomorrow. There's no bhangra like old school bhangra and many in the US and Canada would agree b/c UK bhangra was a hot, yet rare commodity here in the early 80s. I payed 6 dollars for my first bhangra cassette back then - Diamonds from Heera and had to travel all the way to Canada to get my hands on it, lol. And even then I had to search 10 shops before I could find it in stock, and we listened to it all the way back in the long car drive except for Vakhian Tau Tang Kurti, somehow my father didnt' approve and we had to skip that track.

Among the collection is a scan of Chirag Pehchan's Rail Gaddi album, the bhangra staple discussed above. I've the cassette somewhere....

This is the same song from which Anand milind got inspiration for their " Mujhe neend na aaye" for Dil Film.
After you listen to song you might find Dil song ditto copy but those who know pjabi folk will agree that Alaap Song Mukhda is itslef based on folk tune !
Check the lines " chuni udd udd jaaye " . it is a punjabi folk tune !
But yes Anand milind copied the interludes and took this song as base not the Punjabi folk tune !
Open to corrections

Ek Query hai meri can any of you tell me abt "KISS "N" TELL" (KNT) band of composers???
Iam HUGE fan of Sukhwinder shinda and KNT .
KNT are the composers of all Albums of Romey gill, jasbir bains and others. Their use of instrumetns is fantastic !. its very unpredicatble ! ( fusion of bhangra- western styles )
Can you imagine they use Dhol and bhangra beats for even Sad sngs !
Main bilkul clueless hai KNT de members baare. One is "Sukhi" but I dont knw abt others.
Can you tell me somethng or anything you know abt " Kiss N tell" members. Take your time. KNT is based in UK so you must be knwing little bit abt them !
