Though the recording is not so bad but you can hear Anwar singing Rafi Sahab's song to his level best. At the party where I was seated near him, I could tell he had some of Rafi Sahab's quality but not his pitch or style or the charisma. Check it out

There appears to be something wrong with song: Yeh Mera Prem Patra Per ker - every time I attempt to play, my system freezes up and slows down you dont mind U/L ing the song afresh, do you?

Yes Nadeem Bhai, this was live and it took place at a friends place in his living room. I was sitting only few feet from him. He was with few of his musicians and he was a bit high on alcohol. But he was gracious enough to sing for three hours or more. I still have lot more of his songs that I may upload later. He chose those songs as requested by the audience. He has good voice for ghazals but could not sing very high pitch as needed for Rafi Sahab's songs.

Like they say - sharab without shabab is useless:-) What do i know abt these things?...after all, i am an innocent type of guy:-)

Poor chap, succumbed to lifes (Bollywoods) trials and tribulations, its a shame but then he is only human.

During his initial career ANWAR simply did not have any problems with pitch or scales, but now its not surprising (how can he practice RIAZ properly)

I have to admit, he sounds good (esp CHALE THE SAATH MILKER) considering he was a bit tipsy

I hope and pray that he kicks the habit.

Not sure but I remember someone said something or pointing to someone in the audience when he was singing the line " Yek Haaseen Ki taraf, ye Gulaab Phankoo Ga". It wasn't a bad scene.

Iam also surprised to know that anwar drinks. I heard some people saying that he is an ayyash type of person but dont know the truth. I have a big doubt in my mind regarding anwar. I hope any one of u can clear.
I think anwar was the best rafi clone as compared to others like mohd aziz, shabbir kumar and sonu nigam. But he has the least number of songs as compared to others. what could be the reason ?

I never said anything bad abt his singing talent! Remember, Talat Mahmood was sidelined by Naushad when he was caught smoking in the recording room. If Talat can be sidelined, then Anwar is no exception to the rule. Our desi MDs r strict when it comes to singers. I have NO problem with his drinking or his ayyashi...

Yes, Anwar was palying the harmonium and the tabla was played by a local artist who is one amazing tabla player.

AMAZING - all you need for a perfect nights entertainment is ANWAR with a Harmonium and a Tabla player - no technical equipment to enhace the voice etc or Chorus support.

Indeed he may drink but as RKA says "HE WAS GRACIOUS ENOUGH TO ENTERTAIN US FOR UP TO 4 HOURS (in a living room)", that sathiyo only suggest; ANWAR Saab is a down to earth kind of guy and yes Nadeem Bhai - a damn fine artist.

Regardless of his vices, he performed exceedingly well and was ever willing to sing as many songs as required to please the audience. He is definitely great with ghazals.

This was a private show done by a close friend but I don't remember anyone video taping this show. It would have been nice but no one thought of it. In any case I will see if my friend recorded this or not.

I think there's a slight mistake here ... "Kasmen hum apni jaan ke" was an Anwar number, from 'Mere Gareeb Nawaz'.

Hi Harishankar, offcourse this is an Anwar number. But this was uploaded as that song and some of his others songs besides Tributes were recorded in the same program.
