80s was the era when Madam Noor Jehan sang thousands of songs for Punjabi movies --- Wo movies jaisi bhi hoon, but no doubt the songs were very catchy and melodious. I just want to share some of my Punjabi favorites. Hope you will like it.

The first song is from musical blockbuster ‘Sher Khan’ (1981), ‘Mein vi badnaam saiyan, tu vi badnaam ve’ , Music by Wajaht Attre, Lyrics by Waris Ludhyanvi.

Ok, here is the next song! ‘Pyar tenu karni aan pyar ve’ , a very foot taping song from ‘Naukar Te Maalik’ (1982). Music by Zulfiqar Ali, Lyrics by Saeed Gilaani. I think it was the first movie of Zulfiqar Ali as a music director.
Love this song, very well sung by Madam.

the only reason i've posted here with this info is because the songs are so hard to find on the internet or the market, especially if you're outside Pakistan. i got most of these from Sadaf CD Corner in Ghakhar Plaza (Rawalpindi) when i went to Pakistan recently, they have a lot of old stuff over there.

Chhichhde = Skinny part of flesh.

Billi ke khawab mein chhichhde = Its a Urdu idiom, means ' Needy person indulging in wishful thinking'.

Another my all time favorite song, Mere dil de sheeshey vich sajna, paee sajdi ae tasveer teri , from 'Wohti Da Sawaal Ae' (1982), MD Zulfiqar Ali, Lyrics by Hazin Qasdri. I love the alaaps in this song. A very difficult tune and very well sung by Madam.

Saw Zil-E- Huma singing today on ARY Digital singing a few of Madam NJ Popular Punjabi Numbers, she just sounding like Madam herself. Cant understand why she hasnt taken playback singing as a proffession so we can get rid off crooners like Naseebo Lal and Saira Naseem away as possible!!!

She is very bad singer. Not even equal of Madam's jooti.

I think there is only one singer in Pakistan, who can justice with Madam's (Punjabi) song, and that is 'Azra Jehan'.

Ya, Priya. The same film version was used in Tarannum.

What about Shazia mansoor? I heard her version of "aaye mausam rangeele" and it wasn't too bad. Is she popular in Pakistani playback?

Who is Azra Jehan, Inaam?

Shazia Manzoor (not Mansoor ) is a very good singer, though she is not on Noor Jehan's wave-line. Some of her songs were quite popular in India/Pakistan a few years back, like 'Mein tere pichhe reh gai, hye dil jaani' and 'Aaja sohneya... ghar aaja sohneya'.

'Aaye mausam..' is a classic song of Zubedia Khanm. I dont think anyone can justice with such classic melodies.

Another lovely Punjabi song from 80s ---- A beautiful Mujra song 'Dil aakhaan ke dil jaani, mein teri deewaani' from 'Heera Pathar' (1983), Music by Master Abdullah (one of the finest music directors of Pakistan). I love this song, Again a very difficult tune and wonderfully sung by Madam.

Priya, I was very much busy in my sister's marriage, held in last week. I was almost alone to make all the arrangements... Shadi 10 November ko huwi... My father was not feeling well since last few weeks, on Nov 8th, he has semi paralysis in his left hand & leg. I was really in trouble.. aik taraf shaadi ke arrangements aur dossri taraf Abbu ki illness.. But Alhamdulillah, Shaadi bhi achhi tarha ho gai and my father is also getting well rapidly. Doctors say he will be completely all right after a few weeks physiotherapy.

I will send you all the files of proposed KA Radio show, soon.
