Thanks a lot for this lovely song. Do you have any more duets of suman and hemanth?

Laxmi[purposely not lakshmi]

am not trying to upset u

just trying to understand the indian psyche

why do we not follow simple spelling

Lata is not Latha

and Hemant is not Hemanth

I can understand ur case it's a peronal choice

but the others are public figures-for years

my pique is I was refused money -travelling abroad-the remitter added H to my name-and the bank refused to pay.

But in my case I will allways call you Lakshmi not Laxmi

If you spell my name Laxmi, it would be pronounced "laks-me" which is incorrect. If you spell it Lakshmi, (which is the correct spelling), it would be pronounced "laksh-me" . If you spell "Hemanth" Hemant, it would be pronounced "Hey-mant" which is incorrect. If you spell it Hemanth, it is pronounced "Hey-manth", which is correct. Similarly, Lata would be pronounced "La-ta" which is incorrect. If you spell it Latha, it would be pronounced "La-tha" which is correct.

The problem here is that these names were originally spelled using Indian letters (How do you spell these names in Hindi? Do you use a t for a th?). When you translate them to English, you should do so phonetically. Besides, I don't live in India and don't adhere to Indian conventions.

If you have a problem with this, let me know.

Regards,
Laxmi (oops) Lakshmi

u are Lakshmi-I will respect that and call u the same henceforth

if thats what u prefer

Hemant Kumar has called himself Hemant

the t becomes th in south indian dialects

same with Lata

I have no problem I will call u the way u want me to call u

I think the proper nouns (or names) should be written in exectly the same
manner as the person concerned (whom we are referring to) prefers to write
his or her name. For example...If Maneka Gandhi spells her name in this
manner we should not write Menaka Gandhi.

Let Lata be remained as Lata and Hemant Kumar as Hemant Kumar.

I don't mean to offend anyone. It's been a very long time since I left India. I never really noticed how Hemant spelled his name. I will spell Hemant from now onwards. Sorry for the wrong spelling
