Hi All Geetaji Fans,

I was wondering if Geetaji has ever sung any songs under the baton of the following music directors :
R D Burman
Kalyanaji Anandji
Rajesh Roshan
Laxmikant Pyarelal
Usha Khanna

As far as I know I have not come across any song of Geetaji by these music directors.

Any information on this would be most appreciated.

Thanks and best regards

Geeta does not seem to have sung for R D Burman. I see songs by both Shamshad Begum
and Suman Kalyanpur for RDB, but not Geeta.

Kalyanji-Anandji are not really "new" music directors. Kalyanji composed by himself as
Kalyanji Virji Shah for a few films in the late 50s (O tera kya kehna, Ghar ghar ki baat,
Bedard zamaana kya jaane) and all these films had one song in Geeta's voice.
The brothers (Kalyanji and Anandji) started to compose together from "SaTTa bazaar" I think.
No Geeta songs there. But in the same year (1960), they composed for both "Dilli
Junction" and "Dil bhi tera hum bhi tere". The latter had a Geeta solo in it. I have not
thought through the 60s, but I am guessing there will be other Geeta songs under
their music direction. Oh yes, "Passport" has 2 Geeta Dutt solos in it.

Usha Khanna and Geeta Dutt sang a duet together in Usha Khanna's first film as composer
"Hum hindustaani", the year is 1960. Again, I am guessing there will be some Geeta songs
in the 60s of this pair.

Rajesh Roshan first composed in the 70s for the Mehmood film "KuNwaara baap". I think
Geeta was dead by then (don't remember which year she died, but the film came out in 1974.

LP started to compose with Parasmani (1963), but I cannot recall any songs of theirs with
Geeta. That could simply mean that the films and the songs were obscure. Perhaps somebody
else remembers.

Here are three wonderful Geeta solos from Passport(1961), in a rare combination with Kalyanji Anandji. It is a rather odd album by them, it does not have any Mukesh song(an early favorite of theirs), and has all the three solos by Geeta Dutt, though the only duet and it is a beautiful composition (Saaze dil ched de) was given to Lata and Rafi. Interesting that the director of the film was Pramod Chakravorthy, who had directed 12 O'Clock(1958...his first film as director?). Fresh from the success of the 12O'Clock/OPNayyar/Geeta Dutt combination, he might have had a hand in getting the female solos for Geeta Dutt. Moreover the solos seem like club numbers that were sort of clubbed with Geeta Dutt. It is to Geeta Dutt's credit that she breathes life and sensuousness into each of these numbers...

I think Laxmikant Pyarelal were Kalyanji Anandji's assistants for this album. But as the main composers, I don't recollect a single song by them with Geeta Dutt.

besides these new -has she sung much for Old Established MD's like Naushad & Roshan ?

mahesh
for naushad she sang twice-in dillagi[49] and son of india[61].
for roshan ,she gave him his first chartbuster-''khayalon mein kisike is tarah aaya nahin karte'' for bawre nain[50].she sang for him again in bedardi[51],agra road, coffee house, rangeen raatein, aangan ,warrant and dooj ka chand [around 20 songs].

there was also a Geeta version with Shyam recorded but not used

but I don't think there was another song in Dillagi by Geeta

In short Naushad,CR,Ghulam Mohd-hardly used her post 1950

Balaji and Cinemaniacji,

I am in Delhi right now. Will upload the video of the song...tu mera chand...
picturised on baby shyama and sung by Geetaji next week. shyama played
the role of younger sister of shyam kumar, not shyam, with whom suraiyya
got married in the movie, against her wishes.

I am not denying the fact that orginal song in the movie was sung by
suraiyya and shyam but the part of the song sung by geeta dutt was also
used in the movie as stated earlier.

Mahesh ji, any chance of sharing any of these songs. I belive "Haseena sambhal ke chal" from Saqi is one of the not-so-rare ones. I also have Lata-Geeta duet "Chalo ghunghat mein" from Sipahiya.

Can some one please share these rare songs ?
