I would love to hear the Tamil versions of all the songs especially the
Lata/Rafi duet. Wonder if PBS and PS sang it in Tamil.

Reviving this thread. Recently I had the chance to listen to the Jahan Ara song Woh chhup rahe .. (thanks to dear dear Anupama for sending me the song )

It reminded me of an old song sung by Balamurali Krishna and P. Susheela. I did a search early hrs today and chanced upon the right finds!

Yes it is similar to the song from Subhadhinam - Puththum Pudhu Meni.. - I am u/l rather not so good quality of this song and you may check out yourself.

The confusing thing about the song details is that the song is said to have been composed by TG Lingappa - which was what was written on Melody Queen P.Susheela's site, while on the TFM page site it was given as K.M. Mahadevan.

Both these MDs are not so known for copying

My info says T G Lingappa, but I think I got that from the P Susheela
group. So that explains why it matches what is on the site.
However, I checked a different source (not the TFM site) and it says
that the music is by KVM. I somehow think it is KVM.
The film is from the year 1969, which is after JahaaN ara (1964).
KVM has been "inspired" by Hindi tunes a few times I think, though
it is rare.

And since you revived this thread, any luck on finding songs from the
Tamil version of "Parasmani"???

Nope SB couldnt get Parasmani! Yes those are the same sites I too got the info from. I was restless for over 3 days ever since I had d/l the hindi version and heard it. I kept remembering that part malar manjame... and thought it must be a TMS/PS duet. When I did a search with juz those two words put together I managed to gather all the info. Felt so elated, with the results and wanted to share it with you all

Yes it is the same song - Kannaaaaaaaaaa karumai neera kannaaaaaaaaaa unnai kaanatha kann illaiyeeeeeeeee from Nanum Oru Penn ( I am a girl too) - The hindi was the remake of the tamil movie - with the senior actor acting in both tamil/hindi and I think there was a telugu version too. SV Rangaiah a well known actor of great calibre.

There is a duet in nanum oru penn by susheela and t.m.s. The song is pooppola pooppola sirikkum. In hindi. the same song is sung by lata and p.b.srinivas.

Yes Lakshmi same movie na so naturally most of the tunes been borrowed.

That song means something like: On the bank of River Caveri, there is a girl like flower.. ???

Discovered another one today!

Azhiyada Kolangal (a Balu Mahendra film) - has two versions of the same song Poo vannum pozhla nenjam.. (by KJ Yesudas and P Susheela - sung separately) - this song was composed by Salilda and he used the same tune for his later scored song sung by Kishore and Lata in the movie Aakhri Badla (a 1989 movie). The hindi version is O Mere Saathi Aa...

The male voice is not Yesudas, but Yesudas-soundalike Jayachandran. And the happy version is
a duet by SUsheela and Jayachandran while the slow version is a Susheela solo.
THis film also has the Tamil version of "Na jiya jaaye na" sung by SPB (solo). The lyrics in Tamil
are "Naan ennum pozhudhu". Nicely sung, but still does not have the special touch that Lata gave
Salil compositions.
