Sahir was unusually sensitive to everything, I wouldn't judge "man"kind by him

Well, let me make a statement that is probably controversial. While
my experience shows me that the average woman is probably more "sensitive
than the average man, I think that in this situation, perhaps there is more
at play. I find that a lot of women (I have more experience with Indian women)
tend to put all their eggs in the "child" basket. The definition of womanhood
is tied up with being a wife, with having a child and then being a mother.
The child becomes an extension of the mother (more than the biological
ties that bind) and she becomes all wrapped up in the child's life.
So, issues that the child faces have a much greater impact on the mother
than the father who seems to have other things on his mind.
I am seeing that in a society like the US where there are a lot more situations
where both parents have careers and their own private ambitions, I see
more cases where the children are being brought up by the father and where
the father has a stronger bond with the children.
