Hello Guyz,
I don’t know if the songs of Hyderabad ki Nazneen have been uploaded before. In my opinion, this is one of the best works of Vasant Desai. It is really sad that the songs of this film are rarely heard. Film has 6 songs only (1 mujra by Shamshad, 1 solo by Rajkumari, and 2 solos each by Lata and Talat), but each and every song is a treat. The best song from this soundtrack is ofcourse Rajkumari’s “Nazroun mein samaney sai qaraar aa na sakey ga” (undoubtedly one of her best). And the two Lata’ solos are the sweetest ones she sang for Vasant Desai.

The director of this film S.M. Yusuf directed some notable films in India including Maalik (1958), Gumasta (1951), Grahasti (1948) and the hugely successful Muslim social Naik Parvin (1946). Later he migrated to Pakistan and directed one of the best films of his career – Saheli. Apart from great music and excellent performances by lead artistes, the film had an atypical ending. The film dealt with MFF love-triangle, and normally in such cases one of the women would exit from the scene. However, the three persons involved resolve their problems through a polygamous agreement to live together happily thereafter. The film highlighted the sacrifice of one woman for her best friend.

Here are the first three songs from this film :-

Ummer Bhai

Tah-e-Dil Se Shukriya.

Hyderabad Ki Nazneen is indeed a brilliant musical score of Vasant Desai. That Rajkumari song is straight from heaven. During those nostalgic Radio Ceylon days, this was a favourit of Manohar Mahajan and he used to play it often. I am wondering whether your uploads are film versions as the orchestrisation seems to be different from what I can remember from the Radio Ceylon days where it must be played from the gramophone record.

What a marvellous treat.

Many thanks.
