I read a very interesting 4 page article the other night about this artist which can be found at tehelka.com for those interested. I have been listening a lot to his solo debut album lately, as well as Kailash Kher's Kailasa, so I was surprised to find a small link between the two.

Also, some folks have created a blog called Rabbism, lol! Has lyrics and translations for those who don't understand Panjabi.

It meant, basically, that you're spot on, that Rabbi's the same chap who's sung Bulla... The song I liked best from that album is Terey Bin Saanu Soneya...

I liked the music video for that song, very nice. And I love Tere Bin too, great stuff.

And Ishtihar is an adaptation of Shiv Kumar Batalvi's poetry, it was famous in the 80s too - a Panjabi version sung by perhaps Hans Raj Hans or K Deep, I don't really remember anymore but I do remember I liked it, also a Hindi version was used in Aag Aur Shola (Ek Ladki Jiska Naam Mohabbat).

Also love the new version of Jugni - very moving.

Did you know that he sang one song for "Waise bhi hota hai - Part 2". No points for guessing. In one of the interviews he regretted singing that number though

First time I heard Bulla ki jana mai kaun, I was in India on vacation and I was really surprised by mixed Sufiana style of his singing. I have not had chance to go over lyrics but it’s a really good number that talks about him, himself with respect to Bulle shah.

I like the part where he sings "na mai lenda bhang shaaraba" & "na mai hindu turk pishori"

According to the Tehelka interview I read they wanted Rabbi for that movie but he declined, he did end up singing for it, though? Goes off to find that song...............And they got Kailash Kher instead, who I've also been addicted to this week.....started looking up what else he sang and have been addicted to that song From Waisa Bhi Hota Hai - he does a live version on the new album (Allah Ke Bande). Also checked Kailash's debut album Awaargi, didn't care for that, probably b/c they are all Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan covers (fairly recent at that), and I'd rather listen to the original. But Kailasa is awesome. Back to Rabbi - he's working on soundtracks now (Delhi Heights), hope its good stuff.

Thanks for clearing that one up, lol, I was wondering about that......... I know where I can get those, thx for the offer, dear. So I guess he didn't want to give Bulla Ki Jaana Main Kaun to Waise Bhi Hota Hai, so compromised and sang another song, saving all his songs for that debut album. So, since they didn't get that song, they got Kailash Kher (Nimii's fascinations with KK's continue, lol) and Allah Ke Bande which turned out great for everyone. I read that Kailash Kher actually thought he was gonna hit it big after he recorded a song for Chalte Chalte, but when he saw the soundtrack, it was re-sung by Sukhwinder, but then Allah Ki Bande made him a star.
