Story:-

A group of college boys decide to open a free battle field for those who hate each other .....................they name the field, fight club.........police suspects, but never can get hold of them...........due to a friend's personal problem.........they move to Dehli to help him.........they open a club called crossclub(dance club).........they each dedicate themselves for friend's safety.................Retish's uncle(the owner of cross club)has been killed by a gang who tried to buy this club..............Retish tries his best not to lose this club by the help of his friends........ they fight and fight and fight...............finally they win wink.gif

My comments:-

i brought this movie home because all my favorit actors were starrin.........Retish , Zayed and the little angry man Suhail Khan..............the scenes are really violent..........but i suppose it's to be accordin to title...........being a girl, i hardly can watch a violant scene.............i'd rather to watch comedy or family drama............comin to the point..........Suhail is acting always the same............Angry.........no changes...........zayed is lovely as usual..............Retish is serious.......no comic line for him..........he's a quite guy here............over all the story is written nicely..............i didn't like the way of fighting.........they should have used some computerized techinques of fighting........(maybe like Akshay's fighting in , awara , pagal, dewana)...... unsure.gif ........they fight in the old way of bollywood movies........."deshoom".........however, in hollywood , the fighting scenes are more like real beating............this "deshoom" sound is annoying.............the rest, was ok...........there's a funny guy whom i dun know the name..........he was the comedian, but not interesting.......i'd rather to see Retish doin the comic role.........he didn't really impress me...........u dun get bored while u watch this movie........but girls, u might get tense...........as i did laugh.gif .....................

OH MY GOD!! i went to the premiere of fight club yesterday and it is so good. lol its an amazing movie and dino n zayed n sohail look really good. lol its such a good movie and got lots of action in and the violence can't be helped with a title like FIGHT CLUB! the songs are good and and the music is fanstastic although there is some theft of main hoon na music but not that much of it. Sunil shetty plays well as a don but some of the storyline is a bit far-fetched. overall its a really good movie and the actors play their roles well and its just a bit of everything really. i'm glad i've seen it and its really good, definitely worth the watch.

Why, oh why, does Bollywood clobber its fans with one trashy film after another?

Emblematic of this trash is Fight Club, the latest Bollywood infliction to descend upon us.

Released on February 17, 2006 in the U.S, Fight Club is a disaster from start to finish with its meandering and assinine script being the biggest miscreant.

The movie revolves round four friends Vicky (Zayed Khan), Karan (Dino Morea), Somil (Ritesh Deshmukh) and Diku (Ashish Choudhary). To make money, they start a Fight Club to provide a venue for youngsters to fight under controlled conditions. Before you can make sense of their zany activities, the friends are off to Delhi to help Somil retain control of his Crossroads club.

You see, a gang of thugs are after the club and have already killed Somil's uncle (Kulbhushan Kharbanda). Realizing they are no match for the hardened criminals, the friends rope in Sameer (Sohail Khan) as a bouncer.

Then there is Sunil Shetty as Anna, the biggest gangster in Delhi. Anna has just been released from jail after serving a seven-year sentence. The bad guys who are after the Crossroads Club kill Anna's younger brother and throw the blame on Somil and his friends. Their gameplan is to get Anna angry enough to kill Somil and his friends so that they can then take control of the club.

The songs - particularly Chhore Ki Baatein - are not bad but they unlikely to set the auditorium afire. You are not going to be humming any of them when you step out of the theater.

Fight Club continues the trend of recent Bollywood films like Dosti and Rang De Basanti where friendship takes centerstage. Like its predecessors, Fight Club is also destined for the Bollywood dustheap. - Nishika Mukerji

Showman Subhash Ghai's innovative Iqbal is seemingly and undoubtedly the first of its kind in the history of Hindi cinema. The film has been making rounds in news and creating much hype amongst the film fraternity, media and the cinegoers alike since the very outset Ghai announced it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The legendary king of the parallel cinema and the most coveted name of Hindi filmdom, Naseeruddin Shah is playing the pivotal character in this sensitive-emotional saga of Mukta Arts. Alongside him, Girish Karnard, Shweta Prasad, Yatin Karyekar and Prateeksha Londkar enact their parts. Shreyas Talpade is the leading protagonist of this outstandingly made fête of Subhash Ghai. Iqbal is based on ambition, aspiration and achievements of young guy.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Iqbal - The Rampur Express' is not a movie that merely concentrates on cricket; it also portrays the unending spirit to beat the difficulties that come one's way to victory. The cricket madness woven with the desire to win will surely make the audience enjoy it on screen once the film is out in theaters.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I went to this movie just today. I heard great reviews from everybody and I finally watched it today. Nagesh Kukunoor has the knack of coming up with some good films, especially off late after Teen Deewarein(Which was brilliant). This movie I think is another feather in his cap. This story is about a deaf mute, Iqbal (Shreyas Talpade), who lives in the small village of Kolipad and dreams of becoming a great cricketer. His father is totally against his love for the game but his mother and sister push him towards his dream. Iqbal is first coached by a devious Girish Karnad, who ditches him for a rich kid. His only refuge is the village drunk Mohit(played brilliantly by Naseeruddin Shah), a former Ranji cricketer. The relationship between Iqbal and Mohit is beautifully brought out on screen. Iqbal's sister (played by Shweta) also gives a brilliant performance. But the cherry on the cake belongs to Naseeruddin Shah. His charm is infectious. He breathes life into the character of Mohit with effortless ease. Shreyas Talpade has also brought in a very good performance. He has really emoted very well and has done justice to his role as the deaf mute. The actor playing Iqbal's father also does a very good job. I think this movie is for the masses as well as the classes. It will be enjoyed by one and all. As the movie's bylane rightly puts it. "It is a story above Cricket."

I saw a torture last night, called Teesri Ankh. One of those movies that is destined to give you a headache.

I saw the film only because of Sunny, its time he stopped acting in such mindless films. The heroine of the movie is very irritating and cant act to save he life. Others in the film do know an 'a' of acting either.

Its gross, violent and ludicrous. See it at your own risk.!!!!

So oldfashioned and so hackneyed you could watch it blindfolded and still know the next move…. The love triangle in Humko Tumse Pyar Hai seems to be more a homage to the cinema of Suneel Darshan than the cult of triangular dilemmas spearheaded by Meehboob Khan in Andaz and epitomized by Raj Kapoor's Sangam.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Amisha is presented in an un-ending series of trendy backless ghagra-cholis in the first half and chic chiffon saris in the second half.

Makes you wonder if blind people actually have access to such a long line of haute couture picked up from the trendiest boutiques that money can afford.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

IPB Image It's the kind of role Sridevi did with rhythmic relish in Yash Chopra's Chandni. Amisha tries hard, but fails to kindle any remarkable emotions in the burnt-out plot

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The narration is replete with engagement and wedding songs that look like leftovers from Karan Johar's and Yash Chopra's cinema. The dramatic force in the storytelling is managed almost completely by outdated narrative manoeuvres including dollops of coincidences that leave us flabbergasted with their puerilty.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The presentation is at best a hark-back to the melodramatic plots of the 1970s. It seems strange that a film of this mood and tempo should be released at a time when Hindi cinema seems to be undergoing a period of extreme flux and change. Of the three main players Amisha tries hard, Arjun tries a bit and Sunny Deol doesn't try at all. Clever chap.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

didn't expect much anyway, knowing this was a Vikram Bhatt film. Should you risk watching it? Only if you aren't tired of typical Bollywood escapist fare yet.

U ji, August and Visuja had both given Rang De Basanti a big thumbs up, pity that thread is no more sad1.gif I'd say more on this but some feelings are hurt very easily and I don't want to cause distress to anyone. I loved it too. I don't remember if anyone else opined. I'd say - go for it and dont ask for more opinions, for if your expectations get too inflated, you might not like it as much!

Taxi No. 9211 is a fresh breather in Bollywood with a very unique screenplay after watching all the movies with "inspired" stories. This light entertainer takes place in the time-span of just one day. There's no long-drawn plot, no melodrama, no serious issues--just pure fun. John Abraham, a thoroughly spoilt brat, and Nana Patekar, a struggling, insecure cab driver become a significant factor in each other's lives. Although resting on opposite ends of the social hierarchy, they have one thing strongly in common--their ego. They embark on their journey in a taxi not knowing that their destinations are themselves. Filled with witty and clever dialogues, Taxi No. 9211 is a fun entertainer that gives us a little reminder to be honest and embracing. Direction is excellent! Everyone gave a fantastic performance. Vishal-Shekhar's compositions are as innovative as this movie! "Meter Down" is a catchy song with a really cool video.

-------------------------------------------------

Nana in AbTak Chappan was brilliant in a different character than his usual "Eccentric Character," stereotype. He also did throw any loud screaming fit at any time. Maybe Ramgopal Varma managed to get the best out of him there. I loved that movie, though members of my family could not figure out why should any one want to make or see a movie about cops killing criminals

---------------------------------------------------

Director Milan Luthria has been getting rave reviews for "Taxi No. 9211", but he was perhaps most thrilled that Aamir Khan made the effort to watch the movie in a hall.

While some have said the bonding between Nana Patekar and John Abraham was the most interesting aspect, others have commented on its portrayal of Mumbai's fast-paced life. However, the ever observant Aamir commented that what stood out in the film was the fact that both the heroes had negative shades.

And Luthria has been on cloud nine since
------------------------------------------------------

It's a very Mumbai-centric film because of the dialogues and one-liners. It's quite a wacky film too again because of the tongue in cheek humour. It's a typical Mumbai kind of fun film with the perfect blend of emotions. It's not a typical masala film. Thankfully no unwanted melodrama. What really works for the film is its simplicity.

-----------------------------------------------

The scene in which John keeps throwing money on the front seat of the cab beckoning Nana to drive faster is very funny. It's so typically rich and spoilt! Even their conversation is hilarious. The scene between Sonali Kulkarni and Nana at the railway station has the right emotions, making you feel sorry for him.
---------------------------------------------------

The performances- John Abraham is slowly loosening up as an actor. The spoilt kid character suits him to the T! He's also managed to stand his own ground against Nana. Nana's performance and funny one-liners are total paisa vasool. He's just brilliant in the film.

I saw a film last night called "Aksar" which means Often. The movie as a whole is not that bad but the script has so many flaws that it is impossible to believe such a story.

The actors are fine, Dino and Imran and a attractive girl that does not like to wear many clothes are all fine. The direction is tolerable but the songs are sung by roukies who simply dont have any decent vocals allthough the music is good in parts

On the whole its not a bad or mindless film but not the one that can convince you either.
For example a camera hidden and covered in a wall takes pictures, thats preposterous!!!

While the casting of MALAMAAL WEEKLY is perfect, it's the script that lets Priyadarshan down this time. Of course, Priyadarshan's earlier films also defied logic and the emphasis was on non-stop entertainment, but MALAMAAL WEEKLY has too many tracks running parallel with the main plot and the outcome isn't as stimulating as the accomplished director's earlier works.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In a nutshell, MALAMAAL WEEKLY isn't great cinema. Nor is it a terrible letdown. It floats in between, a strictly average fare with the by-now-famous Priyadarshan touch visible sporadically and intermittently.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the director of MALAMAAL WEEKLY, Priyadarshan isn't in complete form either. Erratic writing takes a toll on the product and you feel that the film bears an uncanny resemblance to HERA PHERI especially. Even if you compare it with Priyadarshan's earlier works, MALAMAAL WEEKLY is a step down.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Music -- there's just one song in the film [filmed on Raakhi Sawant] -- and it's strictly okay. Cinematography [Sameer Arya] is of standard. Dialogues are the highpoint of the enterprise. In fact, a few one-liners have the required punch to create the desired impact. Editing is loose. The film can easily be trimmed by 15-20 minutes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Paresh Rawal gets a meaty role in every Priyadarshan film and MALAMAAL WEEKLY is no exception. Paresh delivers a performance that is bound to be talked-about in days to come. He is in terrific form. Om Puri plays to the gallery with flourish, thereby proving his versatility yet again. Ritesh doesn't get much scope, but proves his mettle in the engagement sequence. Reema Sen doesn't get scope at all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Asrani is excellent. He gets the maximum footage after Paresh and Om and it's indeed a pleasure to watch the veteran in great form. Rajpal Yadav is efficient. Sudha Chandran enacts her part with conviction. Shakti Kapoor gets limited scope. Rasika Joshi is perfect. Malayalam actor Innocent is fair. Arbaaz Khan [sp. app.] leaves a mark.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maalamaal Weekly is a bizarre enlivening of one of those Tinkle comic stories set in a bucolic background – buffaloes, picturesque poverty, turbaned men in clothes with vibrantly contrasting patches, elementary plots and recycled jokes. The comedy is woefully childish, something you learn within the first frame itself.

Yet the rustic characters, their crude, idiomatic talk, just their perfectly dirty clothes and langotis, the way they sit on their haunches and feed leaves to their goats – all that imagery keeps you hooked for a while. You can almost smell the unwashed sweat mixed with the scent of cow-dung covered courtyards. Which is an odd digression in a comedy movie. Which is why I say MW is bizarre. Crazy. Kooky!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maalamaal Weekly is ultimately an unfortunate waste of costume and set planning, and so many brilliant actors. It makes you feel that Priyadarshan needn’t have taken the trouble. A comedy is much simpler ‘cause its trigger is purely cerebral. More authentic characters or a snake-pit of a plot isn’t going to make anyone laugh harder. Just a genuinely funnier joke instead of the labyrinthine chases would have had the audience in raptures

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MalamaalWeekly seems to be a ripoff of the English movie "Waking Ned Devine". It's a shame PriyaDarshan is making a fool of people by trying to steal ideas and then passing off as original. In a field bereft of originality, there is nothing wrong in seeking "inspiration" or remaking good plots in a different language. But, parading it is as one's own idea, in this age of internet and cable (where movies are easily accessible) is foolishness. blab.gif

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been a big fan of Priydarshan's movies! Sorry to say this, but did you say this story of Malamal Weekly is yours Mr. Priyadarshan? Have you heard of the movie 'Waking Ned Divine'? I belive its a movie from Ireland which was a success in 1998! Your story seems to be very similar to that one! Ofcourse without the Bollywood additons... So what do you have to say?

Own it Priyan!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

He is fantastic Director and what I like more abt him is that he excepts if the story is a copy unlike others. There was a time in Malayalam Movies with high quality comedy and priyan is trying to get the same glory for hindi viewers by remaking them.
Very Good Luck For the Director.

Armed with a bold premise -- by Indian standards at least -- the film never pretends to be offbeat. It follows the same path that most masala films undertake, but the execution of a number of sequences is what generates a decent impression of the film. Of course, there are loose ends and how you wished Razdan would've either trimmed those portions or removed them. SOUTEN - THE OTHER WOMAN would've been much better than what it is currently.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Director Karan Razdan has handled crucial parts well. The confrontation between Mahima and Padmini at the start, right till the intermission point when a shell-shocked Mahima learns that the guy she loves is now in love with her step-daughter, keep you glued to the proceedings. A vital scene soon after the intermission, when Mahima tells Kiran about the relationship she shared with Vikram, is another catch-you-unaware turning point in the tale.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anand-Milind's music is pleasant. 'Barsaat Hai Lagne Laga Hai Darr', 'Souten Souten Mujhe Mil Gayee Souten' and 'Narm Honthon Ki Narmiyaan Lelo' are hummable compositions. The filming of the three tracks is what makes you remember them after the screening has concluded. Dialogues are impactful at times, but average otherwise. Cinematography [Aatish Parmar] is excellent. The portions filmed in Rajasthan give the film a visually stunning look.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After a number of inconsequential roles, Mahima gets the opportunity to sink her teeth into a character that does justice to her talent. She suits the part and most importantly, expresses the varied emotions with flourish. Padmini Kolhapure is graceful, enacting her role with complete understanding.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vikram Singh has a major SRK hangup and is the weakest link of the enterprise. He looks ill at ease all through. Kiran Rathod is a fine actress, but she ought to concentrate on her styling. Her makeup is garish at times and her costumes downmarket. Gulshan Grover is dependable yet again. Shakti Kapoor provides some light moments. Shiva is up to the mark

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On the whole, SOUTEN - THE OTHER WOMAN appeals in parts, not in entirety. In view of the fact that it has been released without much hype and hoopla, it'll find tough attracting the audiences. Business in the Hindi belt should be better.

hehehe..............it was in deed............i watched only caoz of Mahima.........and i am statisfied with peice of work she's done in movie................however, whole movie was not very interesting

tracknest
I ran into this movie called Malamal Weekly being advertised as a comedy film. The only time I laughed was when the movie was over, it was more of a relief than laughter. The torture was finally over.

The director's sense of comedy needs a wild shake up. The movie drags and drags without any purpose. Paresh Rawal is needlessley given those ugly set of teeth and class actors like him and Om Puri ham throught the film.

See the film at your own risk or unless you have a sense of humour or should I say the lack of it like the writer and the director of this tragic film.

-------------------------

The film is an intense psychological drama that shakes you to the core and leaves you thinking long after it is over. The director's expertise lies in the fact that the film's intensity never lies heavy on you. He deftly brings in some much-needed comic relief every now and then.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hats off to Manoj Pahwa for a brilliant depiction of Inspector Maninder. Armed with some hilarious lines like 'I am suffering from shoulder bone disallocation (read dislocation)' or 'We, policemen, have to see death every day', he stands for incurable verbal diarrhoea. I can't think of any actor playing this role better. A particularly memorable scene involves him dealing with too much cream in his tea

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some delightful performances make the director's work a lot easy. Naseeruddin Shah wears the callous look of a forgotten artist with effortless ease, whereas Boman Irani

as his scheming, blunt and quarrelsome brother could not have been more perfect. Boman, it seems, is getting better and increasingly unique with each role. A blend of humour and malice, his Farokh Sethna is sure to strike a chord with the audience. Simone Singh ably compliments Boman's presence, playing his naïve and oppressed wife to the T.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The sole actor who fails to satisfy happens to be Dimple, who systematically overacts, much to the audience's chagrin. Saif with his brooding eyes and snappy lines seem just cut out for Cyrus' part. It feels good to see one of the brightest faces of masala films playing such a different role. Honey Chhaya as the elderly Sethna is also superb.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Drifting from done-to-death ingredients like raunchy songs and extraneous fight sequences, Homi Adajania shakes the audience with his first film and raises a lot of expectations. Essentially meant for multiplex viewers, Being Cyrus introduces us to a talented debutant. And a fresh style of cinema.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

First half of the movie will keep you wondering why the movie is named as Being Cyrus and what Cyrus has to do with the movie…but the twists in the 2nd half of the movie clears all your doubts and makes you say.."Woha, that was a good movie". You can say, the movie has 2 heros…1. Boman Irani who makes you laugh like hell in the first half and 2. Saif Ali Khan…who makes you think "Yeah..I can act in non-masala movies too", very good acting by both the guys infact all of them were good, Dimple Kapadia looks pretty different and Naseeruddin Shah is also very good…he has limited role in the movie but he again and again proves that, he is a great actor…Manoj Pahwa has very small role to play but he has played it very well…funny guy with great acting skills…

The movie is pretty short…approx 1.5 hours…all the actors have acted pretty well…the movie is made for multiplexes and I could not believe that I had to sit in the 2nd row..****** theatre was jam packed…

So in short..the movie is surely worth watching in theatre…go for it…we need some more good movies like this in India….

IPB Image Interesting ideas don't necessarily translate into interesting films!

Saawan Kumar's SAAWAN - THE LOVE SEASON tackles a novel theme. It tells the story of a man who predicts the future. Whether it's the death of a person at 9 p.m. or a major accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway or the leading lady's death on a dreadful Friday, the man knows it all. He's a modern-day Nostradamus.

An exciting concept, isn't it? Sure, on paper, the concept does sound fascinating, but on film, the concept goes for a toss.

Actually, the film rests on a thin plot. It starts off as a love story, continues to have the hero and heroine romancing in Sun City for the first 40 minutes, till the desi Nostradamus enters the frame, minutes before the interval.

Again, after the intermission, the hero and heroine break into songs in Dubai, till our Nostradamus drops a bomb: He tells the heroine she'd die two days later, on Friday. Obviously, the lady is shattered, but instead of going into a depression [who'd like to rejoice after you've known of your impending death?], the hero and heroine break into two songs and make merry.

All this while, the heroine keeps hammering 'Friday' into the hero's head. On the fateful day, the lady is mistakenly shot by the cops outside a shopping mall and dies. The hero blames Nostradamus for it, breaks into his house, bashes him black and blue and Nostradamus dies.

IPB Image When Nostradamus dies, the heroine, who is already pronounced dead, wakes up. She's alive now…

Hindi movies have often tackled issues such as reincarnation, ghosts and astrology and the moviegoer has embraced those themes if they're handled convincingly. Unfortunately, in SAAWAN - THE LOVE SEASON, the screenplay is amateurish and by the time the story reaches the finale, you've already lost interest in the goings-on.

To sum up, SAAWAN - THE LOVE SEASON is a good concept gone awry!

Raj [Kapil Jhaveri] and Kajal [Saloni Aswani], both from Mumbai, meet in Cape Town. It's love at first sight for Raj, but Kajal doesn't reciprocate. But Raj wins her over and all's well.

Raj confides to his father [Ranjeet] about Kajal, while Kajal tells her father [Prem Chopra] about Raj. The two fathers meet and realize that they're actually childhood friends. The engagement date is fixed -- on Kajal's birthday -- but Kajal bumps into an unexpected man [Salman Khan] in the day, who not only saves her from an accident, but forewarns her that her father would die at 9 p.m. that same night.

The father actually dies at 9 p.m. Kajal starts believing in the unexpected man and wants to know her future. That's when the man tells her that she would die on Friday, two days later. The remainder is about the girl wanting to live life fullest in those two days, before her demise.

IPB Image The film has two plots running parallel -- the love story and the Nostradamus aspect. While the love story is like any other love story, the portions involving Salman are slightly watchable, although there was scope to make them far more interesting.

The comedy track -- involving Johny Lever and Bobby Darling -- is crude and appears forced in the narrative. It doesn't even raise a chuckle, forget a laugh.

Saawan Kumar isn't in form this time. The veteran has tackled drama amazingly in the past [SAAJAN BINA SUHAGAN, SOUTEN, SANAM BEWAFA], but even the dramatic portions in SAAWAN - THE LOVE SEASON lack the by-now-famous punch. Music is another sore point. Aadesh Shrivastava's music is uninspiring and barring the title track, the remaining tracks are plain monotonous. Cinematography [Rajendra Prasad] is eye-filling, especially the locales of Sun City and Dubai.

Salman Khan's role and performance are both strictly average. Kapil doesn't get any scope to display histrionics, but he does the conventional hero's part with ease. Saloni gets more footage and she does leave an impression. Prem Chopra and Ranjeet have miniscule roles. Johny Lever doesn't entertain. Ditto for Bobby Darling.

On the whole, SAAWAN – THE LOVE SEASON is a weak fare, which has some scope at the single screens and in the Hindi belt primarily due to Salman’s star presence. That’s it!

Mr . Unni

Iqbal is a refreshing change. Its simple but strong and a film that makes you feel good after you have watched it.See it....u will like it.

Finally saw "IQBAL" and loved it! This 'small film' was produced by Subhash Ghai , the maker of block-busters who, if I'm not mistaken, also gave us "JOGGERS' PARK".

Since I saw it as an in-flight movie, I did not mind the length of the film. Helped me spend the time! But that would be my only criticism about it, that it could have been edited and made crisper. But it is a delight to watch a different kind of movie, not the usual song-and-dance routines.

The episodes about the team-selection politics would be an eye-opener for cricket fans.

Have always admired Naseeruddin Shah, who in my opinion, is the most natural actor after Balraj Sahni.
