I watched Sarhad Paar

what do they call it , masala movie..........this is that type movie....so many mistakes so many flaws.....even do not rent it for a dollar....unless, ur doing ur project on miserable movies...

Mistakes: sometimes, the actor's voice would be replaced by another person's voice...means that actor was not available during editing or something.......sanjaydutt's voice will change to another person's voice...and at the end Tabu's voice is replaced with Mahima's voice.....i hate when movie makers do such mistake and thinking audience are idiots who cannot discriminate voices....

If they worked well on the movie...the story was good one....fight against terrorists.....both pakistan and india cooperate with each other

Sanjay ,Tabu, and Mahima were great, but the film was not good at all.....
  • sanjay loses his memory and gets it back weirdly
  • mahaima kills husband right at the time when he wants to kill sanjaydut, so fake
songs are nice....i liked two songs or so........it was beautiful...... don't watch it

Fakhr e alam, Pakistan's handsome hunk had his "friendly appearance" in this movie....i wonder what he was doing in that kind of movie........worst of all , he did not act well....he disappointed me.....

this is who Fakhr e Alam is:

IPB Image Too late! That’s your instant reaction when you watch SARHAD PAAR.

Everything comes with an expiry date. Perhaps, SARHAD PAAR may’ve worked had it released a few years ago. Perhaps, SARHAD PAAR may’ve struck a chord with the junta when the Indo-Pak wave was at its peak. But SARHAD PAAR makes a late entry to movieplexes and its release timing is also inappropriate.

What’s the verdict then? SARHAD PAAR won’t work eis paar [India] or sarhad paar [Overseas].

Army man Ranjit Singh [Sanjay Dutt] returns home after a long time. Declared missing in action after he inadvertently crossed the border, Ranjit went through trauma and torment as a prisoner across the border.

Amongst the faces to greet Ranjit on his return is that of his wife Pammi [Tabu] and sister Simran [Mahima Chaudhary]. They are happy that their loved one is back, but are shocked to see his condition.

In the Army Hospital, Ranjit is trying to recuperate from the horrifying experiences he has gone through. He sees a face every time he shuts his eyes, only to reopen them in a state of confusion. He has lost his memory, but can only remember this face.

Write your own movie review of Sarhad Paars Meanwhile, Pammi and Simran try to help Ranjit to get back to normal life, but in vain. Disappointed, Pammi begins giving up hope when Simran vows to bring Ranjit back to his normal self. How she will do this, no one knows, but she has the support of Ravi [Chandrachur Singh], a folk singer whom she is engaged to.

Simran’s efforts pay off and Ranjit discovers the root cause of his pathetic condition. His tormentor was Bhaktavar [Rahul Dev], a mercenary terrorist associated with traitors in India.

IPB Image While Ranjit tries to fight the enemy within and Pammi tries to recapture the glorious moments with her husband, Simran is caught in the emotional dilemma between supporting her brother in his fight against his oppressor and fulfilling her marital commitment to the man she has tied the knot for life.

You get a strong feeling that you’re watching a dated product once the reels unfold. That’s not the only problem with SARHAD PAAR. It also looks like a disjointed effort, with certain pieces in the narrative giving you the feeling that it was hurriedly packed up, with some loose ends still remaining.

Also, SARHAD PAAR seems like one confused product. Portions of the film give an impression that it’s a realistic, hard-hitting film, but there are times when you feel that the film suddenly tries to play to the gallery [overdose of songs, including a forced item song].

Any redeeming aspects? Difficult to find! In fact, the drama loses pace as it progresses. Director Raman Kumar has handled a few sequences well, but a few skillfully executed sequences don’t camouflage the shortcomings. Music [Anand Raaj Anand] is strictly okay. Cinematography is inconsistent, but you can’t blame the D.O.P. for it. The delay in the making is bound to tell!

Sanjay Dutt runs through his part mechanically. Tabu is natural. Mahima Chaudhary is efficient. Chandrachur Singh wears a blank look most of the times. Rahul Dev is loud. Akash Khurana leaves a mark.

On the whole, SARHAD PAAR has nothing going in its favor. At the box-office, it’s a loser!

I liked it over all..........even though my back ground information on this movie was not letting me to enjoy.....i was too sceptic.........the background information i had was that this is almost copy of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and one more move, which i forgot the name..........being fan of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's work, I don't like anyone copy his movies....

Akshay is remarkable....he's always so good.........a superstar indeed

Katrina is growing.......she did better this time.....she is gettin better....and the reason for her success would be her natural way of speaking hindi....i heard she can't speak hindi very well.......so, this time no body would have told her to correct her pronunciation,i guess, tongue1.gif so she speaks hindi with english accent..........important of all, she's damn beautiful....

Reshi is great dad...........Javed Sheikh, pakistani actor is sweet too...that patel guy is not bad either

It is worth watching if ignore the fact that it's a bit copy of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and one more (what was it?).....anyhow....watch it.....

Most fav. scene: Akshay's patriotic description of India......

Things bothered me: (NO offence to fans).......i don't like Hemish's screaming at the background though songs are really nice tongue1.gif

IPB Image First things first! It’s said that NAMASTEY LONDON is the 2007 adaptation of Manoj Kumar’s immensely likable PURAB AUR PACHHIM. Sure, NAMASTEY LONDON is about a spoilt British girl of Indian origin and a desi guy, but the similarities end there. In fact, NAMASTEY LONDON also bears slight similarity to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s classic love story HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM, with the husband allowing his wife to follow her heart, helping her unite with her lover.

Similarities apart, NAMASTEY LONDON stands proudly on its feet!

After attempting diverse themes such as AANKHEN and WAQT – THE RACE AGAINST TIME, Vipul Amrutlal Shah attempts a love story with panache. But let’s not mistake NAMASTEY LONDON to be one of those candyfloss entertainers that makers/writers have visited and re-visited over and over again. Vipul Amrutlal Shah and writer Suresh Nair blend romance, drama and humor in right proportions and the outcome is a delicacy that whets your appetite.

What works? Plenty of things!

Write your own movie review of Namastey LondonNAMASTEY LONDON is not one of those usual romantic films. The clash of cultures, the widening gap between parents and kids, also racism -- judging someone by the color of the skin -- NAMASTEY LONDON tackles it all. At the same time, it evokes patriotic feelings at vital points in the story.

The engagement ceremony -- when Akshay gives it back to the arrogant Englishman -- deserves brownie points and also an ovation. Besides, when the Indians/Pakistanis win the game of Rugby against the goras, your joy knows no bounds. The game involves you, you feel as if you were one among those cheering for the Indians/Pakistanis.

NAMASTEY LONDON abounds in humorous moments. The entire ‘Bharat Darshan’ track, starting with Rishi Kapoor interviewing the prospective grooms, and also Rishi’s large Punjabi khandaan [especially Bebe], tickle your funny bone. In fact, the Bebe-Katrina interaction is truly funny!

IPB Image There’s an undercurrent of tension beneath the cool exterior. Katrina’s volte-face minutes before the intermission hits you like a ton of bricks. In the second hour, Akshay’s simple strategy to win back Katrina is very believable. The reason why this character works is because the guy never indulges in any herogiri or adopts any illogical steps to woo her back. He loves her unconditionally and that’s his ‘weapon’ to crush the gora rival, who happens to be Katrina’s lover.

Vipul Amrutlal Shah impressed you in his directorial debut AANKHEN. With WAQT, he climbed the ladder. Now, with NAMASTEY LONDON, it’s a leap. In fact, NAMASTEY LONDON is his most accomplished work so far. Love stories are done to death in Bollywood and no matter how different you claim your film is, comparisons with the successful films of yore are inevitable. Despite that, NAMASTEY LONDON retains its individuality!

To sum up, NAMASTEY LONDON is addictive stuff. You watch it once, you wanna watch it again!

What happens when you transplant an English rose to a countryside in Punjab? Will it thrive in an alien environment? The rose will either die or rebel. That’s exactly what Jazz aka Jasmeet [Katrina Kaif] does when her father Manmohan [Rishi Kapoor] brings her to India and gets her married to Arjun [Akshay Kumar], a farmer.

But Jazz is equally determined to marry Charlie Brown [Clyde Stenden], her British boyfriend. Caught in this emotional tug of war between father and daughter is poor Arjun, who is helplessly and hopelessly in love with his beautiful but unyielding wife.

IPB Image NAMASTEY LONDON fits the description of a true-blue Hindi film to the T. Writer Suresh Nair’s screenplay is most convincing, the writing is foolproof, with no loose ends. Only thing, while the first hour moves at a lightening pace, the pace drops in the second half. In fact, minimal trimming in the post-interval portions would only make the narrative tighter. Another aspect that might curtail its prospects [at smaller centres mainly] is the generous usage of English language at vital points. Agreed, there are sub-titles in Hindi to decipher what’s going on, but it could prove to be an obstacle.

Himesh Reshammiya’s music is excellent. The tunes come instantly on your lips and what elevates the songs are its picturization. ‘Chakna Chakna’ and ‘Dilruba’ are compositions that merit a mention. Jonathan Bloom’s cinematography is exceptional. The D.O.P. does complete justice to the stunning locales of U.K. as also the lush green fields of Punjab. Dialogues [Ritesh Shah, Suresh Nair] are natural to the core.

If you felt Akshay Kumar was getting typecast in comic roles in film after film, you need to watch him in NAMASTEY LONDON. One of his finest performances so far, NAMASTEY LONDON also marks the coming of age of an actor who was often dubbed as an action hero or a funster. Akshay not only wins the heart of Katrina on screen, he’s sure to win the hearts of millions of moviegoers with a terrific portrayal in this film.

Katrina is a revelation. The actor surprised you with a confident performance in HUMKO DEEWANA KAR GAYE and now, in NAMASTEY LONDON, she comes up with a spirited performance yet again. She handles the complex part with remarkable ease. The pretty lass is only getting better with every film!

IPB Image Rishi Kapoor is in terrific form. Upen Patel is highly competent. The actor has a substantial role which he carries off skillfully. Ritesh Deshmukh [sp. app.] is wonderful.

Nina Wadia [Katrina’s mother] is first-rate. Clyde Stenden [Katrina’s fiancé] is excellent. Javed Sheikh is proficient.

On the whole, NAMASTEY LONDON is a superior product that blends romance, drama and humor beautifully. At the box-office, the film has all it takes to woo the moviegoers. However, the opening [evening shows on Friday specifically] would be affected due to the crucial India versus Sri Lanka cricket match [World Cup], but this truly well-made film should gather speed from Saturday onwards. In Overseas too, the film should fare exceedingly well.

Say namaste to NAMASTEY LONDON, a complete family entertainer. Strongly recommended!

what i was starving for in a movie for long time..was a perfect unison of typical bolly movie melodrama and reality bite.NL is picture-perfect on this criteria.it was a stress-buster on next day to india's hope-shattering match. vipul shah ,like wakt, here again starts a profane plot with lighter notes.but this time he keeps u titilliating with well timed laughter doses even in most serious part of the movie.songs in the movie come just on time and prods to go story ahead.aesthatic picturisation of songs..most with the glimpses of india and london tourist spots-are eye candy. katrina is a total revelation in this movie- she accomplishes her demure dazzling look with her histionics as well.AKSHAY suits and elevates the character of arjun innately.his discussions and satires are quite intersting.upen patel ,rishi kapoor and other characters also perform upto yhe mark.

What I liked about the movie:
well timed dialogues..most of them come as akshay's outsmarting answer to katrina and other people

What I didn't like about the movie:
a bit sloe pace in pst interval and first 10 minutes

Favorite Scene:
1.rugby match(i would go with TARAN that ur joys knows no bounds) 2.post rugby dialoguelrss laughter session on dinning table in rishi's house 3.akshay's description of india with all facts and figures to a conservative gora 4.akkki's entry

i have no words to say about this movie and its director vipul shah....aanken,waqt and now namaste london....vipul shah is a direcor who can handle a tragic or any other story very lightly and successfully...people may think before NL that vipul is hit beacuse of BIG B..but it's not that.....i hope we can expect more wonderful products in future. NL is movie with romance, humor, emotion but no action scenes...though it looks like poorab and paschim..but treatment is different... PERFORMANCE: after a long time, i find Rishi kapoor awsesome....i think he was good in FANAA and excellent in NL. wat to sat about akshay kumar...first as action hero than comedian and now as a actor who can gives 200% in any role whether movie is good or bad.. Katrina Kaif....what a change...when i was watching SARKAR...i found her only beautiful lady who can't act...but my myth is broken in NL...she is wonderful in thsi movie.. upen patel, javed sheikh and nina wadia justified their role

What I liked about the movie:
direction,acting everthing

What I didn't like about the movie:
i like everything

Favorite Scene:
laugh scene after rugby match on dining table...

This movie is a waste of time and money. It would have been great without some scenes and making it longer than it was necessary.

What I liked about the movie:
The oppening is excellent! Rishi Kapoor's role was funny. Akshay is good and that is all!

What I didn't like about the movie:
Katrina- Pretty but irritating. The pakistani actor who has played the role Parvez. The rugby sequence- it's not like playing American footbal where the ball doesn't need to be touched the ground by the player. If you want to show something show it appropriate way!

Favorite Scene:
The oppening.

This film is really very good.Any filmgoer would enjoy the film.It has every thing - romance, music, emotion, comedy, patriotism etc. And every thing is in such level that you will enjoy. One thing is missing and that is action. But you will feel the action when Aksahy would be explaining India to some British peoples. So according to me, fantastic film.

What I liked about the movie:
Akshay has proved again that he is one of the best actors of bollywood today. Katrina has improved tremendously. Rishi Kapoor was also great. Upen's appearance was enjooyable. And music was fantastic.

do not watch Nehle pe Dehla

Because:
  • Saif will disappoint you with choosing to act in this film
  • Sanjay will disappoint you as well
  • There's a murder made by making this film, and that is they murdered comedy
  • one of mistakes the director made, during a scene there's no Saif's voice, it's someone else's,addressin audience as being foolish who cannot discriminate voices.
  • shakti kapoor's scene makes you go and jump off the balcony and commit suicide laugh.gif
  • there's no story
  • there's no meaning
A Movie definately to avoid!!!!!

Just cant believe that such movies are still made in todays times. A movie with total distaste that people would make for the nearest exit unless your idea of enjoying yourself would be entertainment provided by people whose life's and adventures revolve around a dead body and its uncanny abilities. TOTALLY CRAP!!!Weekend At Bernie's: (Rating: 2) by Angeline
Honestly! I had dreamt of seeing more of Bollywood's badboy with Bollywood's leading sultry lady after Rakht, but what was this. Bios tried but this role just sucked for her and Muna Bhai, tsk tsk. Saif had outgrown these frat roles. So why go back. He was funny ,no doubt, but... And what is a B-list star like Kim doing with A-listers in a B grade movie? It was her world but she still could not reign in the presence of A-LISTERS! It was just so and so.

Directed by: Ajay Chandok
Produced by: Dhariwal Films
Cast: Sanjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Kim Sharma, Mukesh Rishi, Shakti Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav
Music Director: Himesh Reshammiya, Dabboo Malik, Anand Raj Anand, Nitin Shankar, Nikhil Vinay
Lyrics: Sameer, Dev Kohli, Salim Bijnauri, Panchhi Jalonvi, Faiz Anwar

Ajay Chandok’s directorial debut Nehle Pe Dehla reminds of conventional David Dhawan films made in the 90s. Films like these used to work in the 1980s and 90s but in todays scenario NPD holds no place.

Nehle Pe Dehla was previously named on its characters, Jimmy and Johny. The story has been seen many a times on the silverscreen and this one too has nothing novel to offer. The archetypal, humdrum, unexciting masala of two crooks wanting to upstage each other to lay their hands on a booty have been cycled and recycled time and again over the decades.

10 minutes into the film and even a child can predict the script. You definitely don’t need a brain to understand this one.

The film revolves around two thieves, Johny (Sanjay Dutt) and Jimmy (Saif Ali Khan). Johny has a fetish for robbing expensive watches from showrooms during the day, while Jimmy robs mansions in the wee hours of the morning. One night, they encounter Guptaji [Avtar Gill], who has been killed by the villains [Shakti Kapoor, Mukesh Rishi, Aasif Sheikh and Shiva]. Just like a masala film, the dying man blurts out some words ‘Roxy Hotel’ to push the story further.

As obvious as it seems, our heroes land up at the hotel giving false stories to Balram [Shakti Kapoor] and get employed as stewards. Meanwhile, Balram’s niece Pooja [Bipasha Basu] and her friend Kim [Kim Sharma] plan to start a hotel in Mauritius and instruct Balram to dispose off the Goa property. But Balram has usurped all the money with the help of three crooks [Mukesh Rishi, Aasif Sheikh and Shiva] and hidden it in Mauritius. Johny and Jimmy get to know Balram’s game plan and demand a share in the booty. Balram calls them to Mauritius. Meanwhile, the three crooks also hatch a plan to eliminate Balram and usurp the booty themselves.

The action shifts to Mauritius. Balram is murdered. Johny and Jimmy are in a fix since only Balram knows where he had hidden the booty.

The film makes a mockery of itself in including scenes which add sad humour. The scene where the three crooks rob the body and take it to a tantrik [Supriya Karnik], who says that the dead body of Balram will only react to a Mauritian song, is irritating to say the least.

There is nothing called logic and narration in this flick. The writer definitely deserves a trophy for pinning up a tale that is dependent on a dead body. Shakti Kapoor plays the immortal dead body which dances to music, drives a car, completes the formalities in the bank, reaches the place where the booty [Rs. 30 crores] is hidden and even fights the goons in the end. Wait, there’s more…the dead body falls off from the hotel, is thrown in the sea but returns to the shore, it meets with an accident but the body shows no bruises, is even hidden in a refrigerator but it remains normal… now, doesn’t that sound fun…Hahaha!

This film would have certainly be a blockbuster had it been released in the 1980s but in today’s times this plot will not manage to pull any crowds to the theatres. Except for a few funny moments NPD has nothing much to offer. The music is stale and out of place. Cinematography is fine.

Performance wise, everyone is hammy. Sanjay Dutt has played similar roles in many David Dhawan’s films in the past whereas Saif also makes his first attempt at this non stop nonsense. The actresses Bipasha and Kim are expressionless. Shakti Kapoor is good all throughout.

Watch this one, if you have nothing else to do this Sunday…

RS Ratings: 2/10

Fantastic movie and melodious music.
This movie has impressed me so much, I wasnt expecting the movie to be so good.
Nagesh Kukonoor has matured in cinema making. Well done, and great job Nagesh.

The surprise package of the movie is Ayesha Takia, she can really act.
I give her 10/10 for acting, she looked so innocent in the movie which the character demanded.

The songs "Ye Hausla" by Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan, and Sunidhi/Shreya Ghosal's "Imaan Ka Asar" is spellbinding. Salim Suleiman (the music directors of the movie), have a touch of A R Rahman for sure.

Watched Namaste London, was good, I'd give it 3 out of 5...Akshay was at his usual best, playing the Funjabi guy to a T, Katrina was the British brat laugh.gif As usual, I could barely comprehend her Hindi wink.gif
One thing no one mentioned was Clive Standon was too good as Charlie Brown...LOL, they even showed Prince Charles in the movie laugh.gif
Memorable scenes:
1) Dinner table conversation after rugby match
2) Akshay returning Rishi Kapoor's lungi
3) The scene where marriage between Akshay & Katrina is being fixed...look at the grin on Akshay's face.
4) The Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi-inspired guy...LOL laugh.gif (where he says kya matlab thrice... smile.gif )
5) Ritesh Deshmukh & Katrina intro scene
6) Scene in which Katrina's family are travelling towards Akshay's home in a SUV being driven by Ghoogi...LOL, this guy is ultimate, I remember there was a speed-breaker ahead & Katrina's mom warned him & he said isko kaho speed kam karke to dikhaaye speed-breaker...laugh.gif

Overall good flick, did not like Upen Patel's role...Javed Sheikh was again at his usual best... wub.gif

scenes raising questions:

  • what happened at the end?
  • the other girl is supposed to hurt Upen badly, she almost disappears
  • The guru who listens to Boby Deol all the time, takes no action when boby says he's gonna kill Upen

IPB Image Yash Raj created magic with speeding bikes [DHOOM]. Now's the turn of speeding cars [TA RA RUM PUM].

The West has often made films depicting the rise, fall and subsequent rise of sportspersons. ROCKY [Sylvester Stallone], DAYS OF THUNDER [Tom Cruise] and CINDERELLA MAN [Russell Crowe] are films that cross your mind as you watch director Siddharth Raj Anand's second outing TA RA RUM PUM. It wouldn't be erroneous to state that Siddharth borrows from the above-named films, but he garnishes the material with desi emotions that work well with Indian moviegoers.

There's no denying that TA RA RUM PUM is a well-crafted fare that provides entertaining moments and also succeeds in its goal as a feel-good experience. One of the prime reasons why TA RA RUM PUM works is because it's not about car racing only. It involves a couple, their two kids, the family's riches to rags story, their highs and lows…

Write your own movie review of Ta Ra Rum PumNow let's get down to the basics: What works and what doesn't? If the car racing sequences are awe-inspiring, the emotional quotient in the second hour is worth acknowledging as well. A number of sequences make you moist-eyed, especially the high-octane climax that not only gives you goose bumps, but also makes you jump with joy.

However, TA RA RUM PUM isn't a flawless film. You can't turn a blind eye to the aberrations in those 16 reels. Fortunately, the pros outweigh the cons in the final tally.

To sum up, Siddharth Raj Anand comes up with a worthy follow up to his directorial debut, the immensely likable SALAAM | NAMASTEY. TA RA RUM PUM easily ranks amongst Yash Raj's better films in terms of style as also substance.

IPB Image TA RA RUM PUM tells the story of one man, his family and how they overcome the obstacles that life puts in their way, together. It is the story of human spirit and how it ultimately prevails.

Rajveer Singh [Saif Ali Khan] is a pit-crew worker in a racing team with a passion for driving who gets discovered by a team manager, Harry [Jaaved Jaaferi]. The same day, he accidentally meets a music student, Radhika [Rani Mukerji], who he falls for instantly. He gets drafted into 'Speeding Saddles' -- a failing race team and transforms from Rajveer Singh to 'RV', the race car driver.

While his racing career takes off instantly, his love life also blossoms after a whirlwind romance. A few months later, he is both a happily married man and one of the country's best racers. Fatherhood and greater success both follow and soon he is the Number 1 race car driver in U.S.A. as well as the proud father of two kids -- Priya [Angelina Idnani] and Ranveer [Ali Haji].

But as a result of a bad racing accident, RV is hospitalized for a few months. When he tries to make a comeback, he realizes that he has been mentally scarred by the accident. His life now takes a turn for the worse and after a string of failures, he is forced to auction his house and move with his family to a run-down neighborhood.

However, RV and Radhika decide not to tell their children the truth and construct a skillful masquerade of a reality show where they have to live a poor life in order to win a mythical grand prize. The family struggles to survive a life that they are not used to, using a mixture of fantasy and cheerfulness to pull through in the face of adversity. But an incident forces RV to reclaim the life that was taken away from him.

IPB Image You don't take to TA RA RUM PUM instantly, since the writing [screenplay: Habib Faisal] meanders on oft-repeated tracks initially [the snooty father-in-law/Victor Banerjee looking down upon the son-in-law/Saif Ali Khan, the mandatory romantic scenes and songs]. The one aspect that shines the brightest in the first hour is the car race that makes Saif's life go topsy-turvy. Ideally, the intermission card should've flashed at this juncture, but the sequences that follow are plain mediocre.

Thankfully, the substance [script] as also the execution of the material improves a great deal in the post-interval portions. The plight of the family moves you: Saif is reduced to a cabbie, Rani plays piano at birthday parties and hotels to run the kitchen fires and foot the bills, the children skip their meals to save for the school fees. The son, in fact, picks up leftovers from the waste to satiate his hunger… These are moments that mirror the realities of life.

The highpoint of the film are the penultimate reels. Right from Saif storming into a hotel, asking for a loan of $ 65,000 to the final victory, the narrative reaches its crescendo in those 25 + minutes. In fact, the powerful second hour elevates the film tremendously.

Director Siddharth Raj Anand is only getting better with every film. He handles the emotional moments in particular very well. The execution of the race sequences is outstanding. Something like this hasn't been witnessed on the Hindi screen before. Binod Pradhan's camerawork is marvelous.

Vishal-Shekhar's music is of the fast-forward variety. One looked forward to a better score for sure. However, the picturization of a few songs camouflages the defect to an extent. The kiddie song -- merging live with animated characters -- catches your attention. The animation here matches international quality.

IPB Image Saif is extremely likable. He conveys the varied emotions with complete understanding. Rani enacts the role of the mother/wife proficiently. Jaaved Jaaferi is first-rate in a serious role. Bharat Dabholkar is efficient. Victor Banerjee suits the character. Shruti Seth is alright. Angelina Idnani and Ali Haji are adorable.

On the whole, TA RA RUM PUM easily ranks amongst better films from the Yash Raj factory. Surprisingly, the film has opened to a below-the-mark response at several screens. But it has the potential and power to gather speed in days to come since it has something for everyone -- emotional quotient for families, thrilling car races to woo the youth and the kiddie factor to attract this huge movie-going segment [kids]. Its business in Overseas should be excellent and in India, the multiplexes will help the distributors reap a harvest. Strongly recommended!

Well...when i went in to see the movie, i have to say as much as i was excited, i did not expect too much from it. Thought it was going to be one of those movies where the under dog comes from no where, and takes the show. I was pleasently surprised. I think it was a very simple concept and story line, but the way director Sidarth Raj Anand has dealt with the story line, i mean the execution and screen play, he was able to convey a very mature message here. Actually a couple of them, one being you never know when you are going to loose all, and one to never give up and always be your man, ofcourse in the midst of it all there was the family pressures, how you change when you become a family man, and the desperation you feel when you can't provide. Finally, after a long time a movie that was shot entirely in the us but did not show that just because they live there they will have a totally lavish house to live in, and treated the abroads as any other locaiton in India. On a technical note, the direction was superb. The director was in the skin of his characters, knew what he wanted. The race sequences were suprisingly well executed. The cinematography was beautiful. Specially the song "Ab To Forever" and "Meray Shona". You feel that the team understood each others language. The performaces were very good, special mention to the child artists, specially the girl. Saif was in good form, but it was because Rani was complimenting him immensely, through out. The only actual time when you see Rani's character as not RV's wife was in her little outburst when she reveals their financial situation to the kids. Another person who needs mention here is Javed Jafferi, complete natural, his role and performance is as important as Saif's, it's like they are two lead males. The Music was very good, and complimented the story really well, basically situaitonal songs. Which shows that Sidarth being a young director had the guts to do it. Most youngsters would like a commercial soundtrack, his was commercial too to an extent but you can see that the story was the first priority, and not record sales. On the whole, i would recommend this movie to all of you. Out and out family entertainer, kids will love the car races and all driving sequences (taxi ones), youngsters will feel upbeat and a rush of adrenaline in your system, which will make you want to be a somebody (i felt it), while the older people would be able to relate to the family financial situaitons, and how egos are broken when your child in hungry. Now you might think, that the movie is getting the hype because of the big stars, but once you watch it you'll know exactly why these big starts are this big. GO FOR IT!

What I liked about the movie:
The chemistry between Saif and Rani, they really dealt with their roles very nicely, made simple real life parents look like stars.

What I didn't like about the movie:
It tends to get a bit too sad in the post interval portions, but i guess it was needed. Sidarth is the director it's his movie, he knows better, but still i almost cried, i mean it was moving. a bit too much

Favorite Scene:
The scene when saif's daughter comes walking in, wearing the racing kit, was just adorable. Makes you want to cry. And the final sequence of the film where Saif rolls, the other guy;s car, wins and hugs his daughter. I will agian quote "I Almost Cried"

IPB Image Some rules you need to follow before you embark on a journey called FOOL & FINAL…
One, don't wear your thinking caps. Here's why: The film defies logic.
Two, don't ask questions. Here's why: It's all about entertainment, not enlightenment. Three, don't look for answers. Here's why: The motive is to keep you in splits.

FOOL & FINAL is all about transporting you to a world of make-believe. The sole intention is to offer you loads of entertainment in those 17 reels / 2.20 hours.

But, wait, there's a hitch…

Write your own movie review of Fool n FinalThe execution of the material is done most stylishly, it's akin to watching a comic book on screen. But the effort falls flat since there's no script in the first place. The film packs in too many characters and too many incidents in those 17 reels. No issues with that, but director Ahmed Khan and his team of writers [Umesh Shukla, Abbas Hierapurwala] should've mixed, merged and unified the assorted characters and incidents skillfully so that the entire experience would be worth cherishing. Unfortunately, what happens here is that you root for a few individualistic sequences only, not the film in entirety.

What redeems FOOL & FINAL are the portions between Johny Lever and Paresh Rawal and a few splendid stunts in the narrative -- Shahid's bike chase at the start or Sunny's fight to finish combat in the finale. But as you walk out of the auditorium, you strongly feel that Ahmed hasn't utilized the golden opportunity of creating a paisa vasool entertainer.

To sum up, FOOL & FINAL disappoints!

IPB Image FOOL & FINAL is all about a diamond that's robbed by Chunkey Pandey in Mumbai and smuggled to Dubai. Chunkey's uncle [Gulshan Grover], a don based in London, asks Chunkey to sell the diamond to his accomplice in Dubai, Asrani.

Arbaaz Khan, a don based in Dubai, gets to know of the diamond and also of Chunkey's weaknesses -- guns and gambling. Arbaaz asks Paresh Rawal to get on to the job. Paresh plans to carry out the robbery with his niece [Ayesha Takia], her boyfriend [Shahid Kapoor] and a cabbie [Johny Lever].

Viek Oberoi owes money to a don [Zakir Hussain], who conducts illegal boxing matches in Dubai. Meanwhile, Chunkey cannot resist the urge for guns and calls Arbaaz, who in turn asks Chunkey for a favor: Chunkey should bet on his behalf at Zakir's illegal den. On Arbaaz's instructions, Paresh, Shahid, Ayesha and Johny decide to kidnap Chunkey.

Sunny Deol has an altercation with Vivek's fighter. Zakir asks Vivek to bring Sunny for the big fight. Sunny knocks down Zakir's fighter. Zakir is seething with anger. In the meanwhile, Arbaaz walks away with the diamond. Subsequently, Zakir walks in and demands the diamond from Paresh and gang. Gulshan and Asrani also land up at Paresh's place with Jackie Shroff and ask for the diamond.

FOOL & FINAL is meant to be a laughathon, but it excites in bits and spurts. The first half offers rich visuals and a few interesting gags, but the entertainment quotient isn't high enough. It's only when Johny Lever enters the frame that things intensify. The sequence in the car, with Ayesha's dog swallowing the mobile, is hilarious and every time Paresh and Johny interact with one another, the smile on your face only widens.

IPB Image But too many cooks spoil the broth. In this case, with so many characters around and so many stories running concurrently, the writer duo hasn't been able to do justice to each of them. As a result, the viewer feels dejected because every sub-plot isn't as interesting as the Paresh - Johny track.

Director Ahmed Khan tries to pack just about everything in those 2.20 hours. His fundas may be, let's give the viewer a dash of everything that they expect from a masala movie. It's like offering twenty well-garnished dishes to a foodie, but [a] most of the dishes [read, sub-plots] aren't delicious and [b] the appetite doesn't permit you to relish each and every dish in your plate.

Himesh Reshammiya's music is in sync with the mood of the film. 'Yeh Dooriyaan' and 'Tere Layee' are visually enticing as well as superb in terms of choreography. Cinematography [Johny Lal] is excellent. The D.O.P. does complete justice to the eye-filling, glamorous locales of Dubai. Dialogues are witty at places.

FOOL & FINAL has a host of actors, but the ones who stand out are Johny Lever and Paresh Rawal. No two opinions on that! Johny is in form after a long, long time and the funster is the soul of the enterprise. The masses will simply love him. Paresh is excellent yet again and together with Johny, elevates the film to a major extent.

Shahid Kapoor is noticeable because he's with Johny and Paresh all through. Even otherwise, he leaves a strong mark in dances. Ayesha Takia pairs off well with Shahid, but doesn't have much to do really. Sunny Deol is okay, although his mukka will be liked by the hoi polloi. Vivek Oberoi hams in the little role that he has.

IPB Image Sameera Reddy has no role either. Sharmila Tagore is wasted. Om Puri deserved a better deal. Jackie Shroff is hardly there. Chunky Pandey is passable. Ditto for Arbaaz Khan. Zakir Hussain does well. Gulshan Grover, Asrani, Vijay Raaz, Razzak Khan and Suresh Menon are mere gap fillers.

On the whole, FOOL & FINAL is all gloss, no substance. At the box-office, given the hype for the film as also the fantabulous promotion embarked by the magnanimous producer [Firoz A. Nadiadwala], the film will attract footfalls in the initial days, but the weak content will tell on the business in the initial weekend itself. Its sustaining power at the ticket window, therefore, is doubtful.

Shoot out at Lokhandwala

I liked this movie even though it had lots of violence scenes. It was a bit difficult for me to watch. There were times that I would hide my face in order not to see those terrible scenes. What I liked about this movie was it is a bit realistic as it says 'based on true rumors'

Every actor is super. I loved Vivek's acting and Tushar did a good try. The rests are amazing. The other actor who has improved alot is Arbaz Khan. He did a good job.

Watch it with caution caoz it has a lot of violence scenes, which is difficult to watch. Another good thing about this movie is that it leaves the decision to audience. They do not offer their judgment, but you decide whether they did good or bad.....I thought they did bad. ....watch it!

IPB Image Hollywood has often made films based on real-life incidents. Just one incident/accident/encounter/catastrophe is enough to trigger off the imagination of a storyteller.

In India, the trend of making a film on a solitary incident is still in its infancy stages. That's because moviegoers in India expect a film to provide 'wholesome entertainment', with every ingredient that contributes to a masala film being served in proportionate doses.

SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA follows Western movies in terms of presenting an incident on celluloid. And with an impressive cast at his disposal, director Apoorva Lakhia gives faces to characters that aren't in public memory anymore, also enlightening those who weren't aware that such an incident took place in a bustling locality of Mumbai.

Like KAANTE, MUSAFIR and ZINDA, SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA is dark and violent. In fact, the film begins with blood stains and concludes with blood-soaked bodies being carried to a van. The action is real and the impact this film makes in the penultimate 30 minutes is jaw-dropping.

But there's a flip side too. You ought to have a strong stomach to absorb a film like SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA. If the raw action depicted on screen is very real, it could have a nauseating effect as well. Blood, gore and guns can be very off-putting, especially for families/ladies/those into feel-good, sunshine cinema.

Write your own movie review of Shoot Out at Lokhandwala In a nutshell, SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA is sure to meet with extreme reactions. You'd either love it or detest it!

SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA is the story of a top cop [Sanjay Dutt], who along with Kaviraj Patil [Suniel Shetty] and Javed Shaikh [Arbaaz Khan], eliminated the trigger-happy gangsters in a residential locality of Mumbai.

SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA is the story of Maya [Vivek Oberoi], who made extortion the buzzword in the early 90s, dared to disobey the 'Big Bhai' of the underworld and fought back a posse of policemen for six hours.

It takes time to absorb a film like SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA. That's because the film goes back and forth before focusing on the main incident. The initial portions, depicting the rise of Maya and his gang, are difficult to comprehend at first. But, gradually, the viewer is sucked into a world that sent shivers down the spine in the 1990s.

IPB Image Thankfully, the film doesn't turn out to be one of those docu-dramas that depict the rise and fall of a gangster. Neither is SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA an extension of 'cop films' like KHAKEE and DEV. The film talks of a dreaded gangster and how the cops eventually eliminated him. But there are layers in the film that we, as commoners, weren't aware of.

That SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA is raw and crude would be an understatement. The subject demands that kind of a treatment and director Apoorva Lakhia executes it accordingly. The film is interesting in parts, but the best is reserved for the finale. However, from the writing point of view, there's not much that the viewer gets to know of these gangsters. Also, while the incident may be a novel experience from the cinematic point of view, the cop-versus-gangster saga has been beaten to death in Bollywood.

Also, Apoorva could've limited the film to a song or two. The songs in the film are akin to uninvited guests, standing out like sore thumbs in the narrative. Cinematography is consistent. The editing of the final portions is topnotch. Action scenes, as mentioned earlier, are life-like.

SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA is embellished with a great cast, but the ones who stand out with winning portrayals are, in this order: Sanjay Dutt [effective], Amrita Singh [exceptional], Suniel Shetty [competent], Tusshar [impactful] and Arbaaz Khan [good]. Amitabh Bachchan is not in his element, expect for the final sequence in the courtroom. Abhishek Bachchan is wasted. Although the makers have publicized his presence as a special appearance, it's shocking to see Abhishek getting bumped off at the very start.

IPB Image Vivek Oberoi repeats his COMPANY act yet again. In COMPANY, it came as a surprise. In SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA, it's monotony. However, his death sequence is fantastic. Rohit Roy is strictly okay. Shabbir Ahluwalia is limited to a few closeups and a line or two here and there. Aditya Lakhia gets no scope. Akhilendra Mishra is fair. A.A. Khan is natural.

Dia Mirza does well. Neha Dhupia gets no scope. Aarti Chhabria registers an impact in the penultimate telephone sequence with Tusshar. Rakhi Sawant's presence comes as a surprise.

On the whole, SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA will meet with mixed reactions. A section of moviegoers [masses especially] would love the violent proceedings, while the ladies/families might give it cold shoulder. At the box-office, the terrific cast and promotion will ensure a fantastic start for the film, helping its producers/distributors recover their investment and make some profits too. Business in Mumbai should be the best.

IPB Image Really big expectations? Oh yes! With the premier production house [Yash Raj] at the helm of affairs and Shaad Ali in the director's seat, JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM is expected to strike like a hurricane.

Let's come to the point straightaway. Don't look for a story in JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM. For, there's none here. What you get to see is a collage of interesting moments. It's not one of those conventional prem kahanis that have the lovers drifting apart or a misunderstanding creating havoc in their lives.

What goes against the film is the fact that you feel a vacuum at the end of the screening. Something is amiss. Sure, you are enamored by the gloss. You are awe-struck by the stunning locales of U.K. and France. You are hooked to the performances of Abhishek and Preity mainly. But, deep inside, it doesn't satiate you.

Write your own movie review of Jhoom Barabar Jhoom To sum up, JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM is all gloss, no substance. Body beautiful, minus soul. In desi lingo, unchi dukaan, phika pakwaan.

Busy London station. Delayed train from Birmingham. Two strangers waiting for the train... Rikki Thukral [Abhishek Bachchan], born in Bhatinda, living in London; and Alvira Khan [Preity Zinta], more Brit than the Queen herself, however with Lahori blood in her veins.

IPB Image Crowded café. One table to share. Two hours to kill. Perfect setting for the start of a love-story. Hitch? Both Rikki and Alvira are engaged and have come to pick up their fiancés, who are coming by the same train. To kill time, they end up telling each other their “how I met my fiancé” stories.

Rikki met his fiancé Anaida [Lara Dutta] at The Ritz, Paris. Alvira discovers her prince at Madame Tussaud's. When a gigantic wax model of Superman falls from the ceiling, Alvira is a sitting target. But Steve [Bobby Deol], a lawyer by profession, saves her life, but steals her heart.

Stories unfold, time passes, the two strangers start enjoying each other. Actually, they have gotten alarmingly attracted to each other!

Director Shaad Ali has handled a number of sequences well. Actually, come to think of it, you do enjoy a few moments in this 14 reeler. But can you stretch a rubberband beyond a point? That's what the writer does.

Writer Habib Faisal's screenplay is as taxing as driving in monsoons on a road full of potholes. When you realize the film offers no story, you sit motionless, flexing your facial muscles at times, but remaining indifferent to the goings-on generally. The director and writer have substituted the script with stunning visuals. But that's no compensation. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's music is quite good. 'Ticket To Hollywood' is the track you carry home. The title track is another foot-tapping composition. Cinematography is exceptional. The film is a visual treat. Choreography [Vaibhavi Merchant] is different, but Abhishek carries it off very well. Aki Narula's costumes are smashing.

IPB Image JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM belongs to Abhishek first and Preity next. Abhishek is in terrific form. It wouldn't be erroneous to state that his performance makes the goings-on watchable at times. A lesser actor would've fallen flat on his face in the absence of a cohesive script.

Preity is lovely and takes to her character like a fish to water. In fact, the two actors make an attractive pair. Bobby is relegated to the backseat. Also, would someone please tell Mr. Deol to chop off those locks? Lara Dutta is confident, though she's not in the forefront either. Amitabh Bachchan adds to star-value. He only appears in one song, flashed throughout the movie.

On the whole, JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM is no patch on Yash Raj's illustrious films. The film is all gloss, no substance. Body beautiful, minus soul. At the box-office, the all-powerful Yash Raj brand coupled with the lack of biggies will ensure substantial revenue for its producers/distributors in the initial days, proving that sometimes, a bad film also makes money.

The most beautiful movie i've ever seen so far................now don't get deceived to what i say biggrin.gif since i have totally different choice.......u may not find it interesting at all........there are number of reason i found it beautiful, let's list them:

  • First: i am tired of NY, LONDON in movies
  • 2nd: I am also tired of always seeing high class in movies, what about middle and lower? tryin to be socialist here tongue1.gif
  • 3rd: Our sacred tradition of love of parents, nature, people, society, and God is all gathered in this movie. It's been long time that i haven't watched any movie where they pray to i guess Tulsi?( the sacred plant inside the yard where women pray early in the morning?)
  • 4th: i loved each and everyone's acting in this movie. A new couple is in this movie, and they were good enough.
  • 5th: Hariharan's voice sounds so sweet at the background with Chitra. Besides, awesome lyrics are chosen.
  • 6th: there's a little kid talks so sweetly. Gosh, he pronounces G=D and K=T , sho shweet
However, i do agree that there are some unneccessary scenes that should have been deleted while editing, BUT i still loved everythin about this movie.

it is not for everyone, i may not recommend all to watch. Those who miss tradition, culture and lower than high class life.

IPB Image A film like SWAMI takes you back to the cinema of 1960s and 1970s. A simple story with simple characters, captured on celluloid in the most simplistic fashion. Come to think of it, a subject like SWAMI is a rarity today. In an era where commercial trappings, spell-binding visuals and technical wizardry are used as tools to garnish a film, SWAMI is as fresh as the morning dew.

On the flip side, SWAMI has not much to offer to viewers shelling out Rs. 150 / Rs. 200 for a ticket at multiplexes to watch larger-than-life movies. A story of a middle class family, with songs playing in the background, no great visuals / sets, no masala, no sub-plots, SWAMI caters to a really tiny sect of viewers that has an appetite for this kind of cinema. For the wide majority, it's akin to treating oneself with boiled food, with no spices to tempt the taste buds.

Write your own movie review of SwamiYet, all said and done, SWAMI marks the birth of a sensitive storyteller -- Ganesh Acharya. The film is rich in emotions and that's one thing that can never go out of fashion.

Swami [Manoj Bajpai], Radha [Juhi Chawla] and their kid [Siddharth] shift to Mumbai after selling off their ancestral home in a village. In Mumbai, they get their kid admitted to a school that's patronized by children belonging to affluent families.

Everything is going fine until Radha falls ill and is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. Swami starts working overtime to raise funds for the operation, but Radha spends the entire amount on a chair that Swami wants to possess so dearly.

IPB Image Radha passes away with just one desire: The kid should settle down in America some day. How Swami works towards that dream is the remainder of the story.

SWAMI has an absorbing first hour. The simple story with simple situations gets finely tuned due to Manoj, Juhi and child actor Siddharth's true to life performances, besides Ganesh's execution. In fact, a number of scenes make you moist eyed in this hour and you can't help but reach out for your kerchief.

But the second hour plays truant. The story stagnates in this hour as a few new characters are injected -- the friends at the park. These characters are a complete put off and only act as a spoke in the wheel. In fact, this portion should be trimmed instantly to keep the movie on the right track.

The writing [screenplay: Bhavani Iyer, Muazzam Beg] is interesting in parts. If the first hour is taut, there's not much to look forward to in the second hour. This half has two incidents mainly -- the daughter-in-law selling off the chair and the son's trip to America. Besides these, the writers should've incorporated a few more dramatic moments to keep the interest alive.

Ganesh Acharya has handled the emotional scenes very well. Also, he has drawn wonderful performances, not just from seasoned actors like Manoj and Juhi, but also from debutante Maninder and also the child artist. There's no scope for music [Nitin Arora, Sony Chandy] in the film and the song or two in the background are strictly okay. Cinematography [Lenin] is alright.

IPB Image Manoj Bajpai is tremendous yet again. This is yet another performance he underplays beautifully. Juhi Chawla is effective enough, though one misses her in the second hour. Maninder is first-rate. The newcomer holds his head high despite scenes with Manoj. Neha Pendse is okay. Siddharth is adorable. The kid is sheer magic on screen.

On the whole, SWAMI is for a miniscule section of moviegoers only. At the box-office, it'll have to rely on a strong word of mouth to stand on its feet.
