Actually at first I thought it would be only a few kinds of songs.. but now that I rethink it would have to be "all of the above"

Correcto Pradeep ji. From a bhajan to cabaret and qawwali to mujra.. she can sing it all. She could lend her voice for a kid and an adult. She sings for all kinds of Bollywood ladies... be it Meena Kumari/Asha Parekh/Waheeda R., or Urmila/Tabu or some random hot chick in Chupke Se.. kehte kehte ruk jaati hai... keh bhi rahe ho, sun bhi rahe ho.. bolo na bataa do...

fanta-fabula!!

Which is the latest numbers you guys like of Asha ji??
I liked the one meherbaan meherbaan from Tehezeeb, esp the solo version. I dont particularly like Sukhwinder's voice

I kind of find it to shrill for words

Sorry guys if I have upset anyone by saying that :|

Ashaji's voice is timeless! Of course MDs should not expect her to do the kind of vocal acrobtics she did 20 years back.
From what I hear Ashaji is planning to release in the near future
1 album of Marathi bhavgeet
1 pop album composed by her
1 semi-classical/classical album
I guess all the shows and busy routine is getting in the way of these being brought out fast.
In the context don't U think the songs composed by Ashaji herself in Aapki Asha are well suited to her vocal prowess?

DEFINATELY all asha styles....
meherbaan meherbaan, i love that song, its so asha......one of my favourite bits is "maine hoton pe rakli thi kamoshiyaaaannnnn"
and the harmony of mera kuch saman, contrasted against the power of shora mi vandile, she is a thousand singers is one.

I like almost all of the latest numbers by her. But I find that often I don't love them. I keep thinking of ways they could be better.

I only have one version - where she pretty much sings lead and he comes in during the chorus. I like his voice for some things, and I think it works well here.
To be honest, I think that her voice a bit too pinched here. Now that's fine I guess, but when it's filmed on Urmila it just looks odd. I keep thinking if the MDs would allow her to sing slightly lower and fuller, like she does on her own solo projects, she'd sound more appropriate for the younger actresses when doing pop/dance songs.
That said, I love her expression in the song. The way she sings certain words... the inflections, etc... that's particular type of magic that only Asha seems to bring to songs.

P.S. I guess I'm back - well, sort-of...
