Hi all,

I heard this song on cinemasangeet.com and I have fallen head over heels for it. If somebody could upload it in good quality I would be extremely grateful.

I don't really have any other details. I looked it up on EarthMusic.net and found some other songs listed from the same film and one of the songs is credited to Krishna Rao Phulambrikar as MD so I am assuming he is MD for all the songs.

If anyone has the other songs from this film it would be great to here them too. I had never heard of this film or the MD so I am quite interested after hearing this gem.

I don't have the Hindi version of the song (though I have heard it), but I do have the Marathi version - "dhu.nd madhumatii raat re naath re" - in decent quality. The tune is identical, and - at least to my ears - the Marathi version is just that little bit better (could have to do with Marathi being my mother tongue!:))

The MD is indeed Krishnarao Phulambrikar, better known as Master Krishnarao. He was a well-known singer and MD in Maharashtra and is responsible for many gorgeous tunes for Marathi stage musicals.

If you are interested, I can upload the Marathi version.

Thanks a lot for that - the words are as beautiful as the tune. After having heard both versions I do find the Marathi version sweeter, even though I don't understand the words. I don't know what it is that makes me feel that. I find this happening quite often when I hear the Hindi/Urdu versions of Tamil or Bengali songs, in most cases I find the original much better.

In general when a lyricist trys to fit the words to a tune that was composed for a song written in other language, s/he has to make some compromises that would make the lyrics somewhat weak. Also its not his original poem, but he is just translating stuff, that must hamper his creative instincts. (and yet there are exceptions, kuhu kuhu bole koyaliyaa, being one of them)

In this particular case the marathi song is written by one of the best marathi poets, ga. di. maaDaguLkar, and THE BEST lyricist of marathi cinema. So it would be difficult to top his creation in other language. I dont know who has written the hindi version and havent listened to it either. So cant really comment on that (and how can I listen to the songs on cenemasangeet.com)
