It is a pleasure to upload the songs that feature in this compilation. This is a compilation of songs that were recorded/ in a film, not cover versions (is that what they're called?) or tributes. It's been my pet project for a while now and I have managed a compilation of some 200 songs old and new, mostly older (I was missing some 30 odd at last count, months ago). I welcome feedback:

* Songs to add to the compilation

* Moods I haven't identified correctly (I am confusion personified, like Priya learning to revel in it!)

* Longer / better/ different versions - you know, the missing flue pieces, antaras, preludes, interludes and all that good stuff

(Always!!)

* Any song that's crept in here under false pretexts J

I'd keep adding songs here in the order I air them. For once the legends would have to be happy at SKS for simplicity.

I hope you enjoy these songs as much as I have.

T ji, The first two songs were great. Waitinhg for the other 198 songs.

I think it is very interesting to hear the same song from differnt singers in their 'andaz'

Is there YM? The 1972 movie - MD Usha Khanna? I don't seem to have any songs from that one, so I don't really know. Anyone can throw some light on this matter?

Thank you Mohd. ji, I guess I must give the devils :We don't have an evil smiley?? What an oversight!!: their due - the credit for this thread goes to Unni ji and NM ji; they brow beat me into it

Seriously though 007 here came up with a wonderful idea of adding some commentary to these compilations for HFRadio, to add interest. He's volunteered to put a script together. We need some voices. Anyone volunteering?

But before that we'd also like some material if anyone has any special insights into any of these songs please do share them at this thread. I am excited at the shape this humble project of mine might take.

Other than what we already have, at the very least we're looking for the song situation, who it's picturised on. If anyone has special anecdotes about the songs or the people associated with them, that would make it all the more interesting.

James Bond ji anything you'd like to add?

The next two are from Dulha Dulhan (1963). A romantic one from Lata ji and a dukhi one from Mukesh ji.

Unfortunately I haven't collected the picturisation details, wherever I know I'll provide that information too.

Just remembered that there is also a Slow/ Sad version of Jeevan Ke Safar (probably u'led earlier too), it is 0:56 in length @128 kbps. So to complete the sequence ["The earlier one(s) would be the lighter of the two (group)"] here goes.

Lata ji's version has been very recently uploaded here by my very own Stalker ji turned assistant, so I won't repeat it.

Kalyanji Anandji, Indeevar. Unfortunately I haven't collected the picturisation details, wherever I know I'll provide that information too.

Picturised on Raj Kapoor, who is dukhi because his love Sadhna does not recognise him due to memory problems. At least thats what my memory says!

Rameshji! I am sure your memory's better than Sadhana's, and Lata ji must've sung in Sadhana's happier days.

Now for the next jodi - a lovely one I might add.

Dil lagakar ham yeh samjhe, Zindagi aur maut (1965), C. Ramchandra, Shakeel Badayuni.

This one gave me trouble. Does it fit here? MK's (not you U ji!!) version starts off with romantic lyrics and ends on a more sad note, so I feel. The tune and tone though feels "sentimental" all through. Would really clarify matters to know how this was picturised.

There's no mistaking the sentimentality of Asha ji's version.

What a great thread T-ji - I used to do this too in my favorites mix tapes, put one version on one side of the cassette, and the other versions on the flip side. Ab tau playlist mein bhi aisi karti.

I have marked them both full versions, so I guess there are shorter versions out there too. Both are eminently CD able versions.

That's a whole different ball game, originals and copy cats, let's not even go there! Tandem tunes for the purpose of this thread are songs of the same movie e.g. Preetam Aan Milo by C.H. Atma and Geeta Dutt, do not qualify. However I definitely would like to hear the original. Kahan upload kar rahi ho Priye?

Yahan the thing is first line is same matlab lyrics wise. Also tune mein bas thoda variation hai.

I had the data but cannot locate it. I believe the Pakistani one was 1951 or so. Let me check with RMIM pals.

Shall I ul it here Tji? Or at the Pakistani artists forum?
