Time and death have failed to eradicate the love and memory of the melody queen from the hearts of the millions who adored her, as they still do, when she was alive, and wept when she bid farewell to the world four years ago.

The Gizri graveyard near Saudi Consulate has many a grave bearing the name Noor Jehan, but the visitors to the graveyard know where to point when asked where Noor Jehan lies buried.

Situated on left side of gate 2 of the cemetery, the grave of Madam Noor Jehan can be easily spotted. Built with golden marble, it is a grave of striking beauty. It stands out from the rest of the graves as most of them are built with white marble.

Visitors to the grave think she was a blessed woman, when they read the date of her demise – Ramazan 26 , the night of 27th Ramazan. “She died on Shab-i-Qadar, the night of divine blessing. Who can ask more from the Almighty?” Said a visitor at the grave. “We keep praying for it, but very few people are chosen for this honour. It was indeed an enviable death.”

An employee at the cemetery said people hardly ever left the graveyard without seeing the grave of the legend. “ Even if they have come to visit the graves of their parents.”

Fans of the Madam make special visits to the place regularly and people weeping at the grave are not an unfamiliar sight, according to another employee.

Hassan Sardar, the son-in-law of Madam Noor Jehan, told Daily Times that whenever he went to the graveyard he saw people standing at the grave as if the queen was still with them, ruling their hearts and soothing their souls.
