Vocal recitals in Shivranjani are not too commonly heard. And a dhrupad recital is even more uncommon. Here is a Shivranjani recital by the Gundecha Brothers: alap followed by dhrupad in Shivranjani.

Excuse me for chhota munh aur badi baat ! sad1.gif

Could someone give me an example of use of Shivaranjini in films for a happy number ? I've read that SJ used this raag quite extensively in many of the melancholic numbers, ones like O Mere Sanam, Aawaaz Deke Humein Tum Bulaao and Jane Kahaan Gaye Woh Din.

Happy as in Bubbly, exciting joyful number - probably not b'cos the raaga doesn't lend itself easily to such compositions. But happy as in hopeful, soothing, romantic number- yes. Examples are:
Baharon Phool Barsao - Rafi saab in Suraj
Tumhe Dekhti Hun To Lagta Hai Aise - Lataji in Tumhare Liye

Is this an unpublished/non-commercial recording Anil ? Don't find it listed in his discography.

In the 70s There used to be an LP Record by Vijay Raghav Rao, in which there were 3 or 4 Ragas - Hamsadhwani, Shivaranjani, Amrutvarshani and Pilu Dhun. Few of these have been uploaded before.
The Shivranjani is of just 7 minutes duration, though very effectively presented and very well adapted for the wind instrument.

I do have a deffective recording of the same which is uploaded here in WMA 9 format..

You're right Anil, it's a very well presented Shivaranjani. The alaap was really beautiful. And the sound quality wasn't bad either. Thanks for uploading it. Surprisingly, I have the latter two tracks from this record but not the first two. Would you mind sending the Hamsadhwani my way ?
