a song from the film hamari manzil[1949] sung by s d batishji along with geetaji and rafi sahab.the records credit only geetaji and rafi sahab for the song;but there is a third voice which most experts identify as batishsahab.
music is by husnlal bhagatram who used s d batishji quite often.lyrics are by rajendra krishan.
the song is ''andhere se na dar.....kaante banegi kaliyan''.

According to Amin Sayani program, This song won best singer for S. D. batish jii in that year. (I dont remember, if it was in Binaca rating or some national award)

I don't think the female voice is Asha's. I listened to it a few times and I honestly
cannot be sure, but it does not seem like her voice. Is there a way we can validate
whose voice it is? Perhaps S D Batish-ji himself may remember it?

even i am not sure about it being ashaji's voice.i have mentioned her name because ashaji's filmography swarasha mentions this song in her filmography.the cd only mentions manna dey's and batishji's name.

Thanks for these. I recently received a copy of one of dad's Toofaan film songs from a collector. It is better than was uploaded by Dharmvirji. I am uploading it for all to enjoy. I have not tried to clean it or improve. It was presented to me on a cassette. A better than this quality copy will be much appreciated.

I do not think this is Ashaji either. Dled Ur file. I have the same one on the Alaap cd by HMV. Listed as Manna Dey, SD Batish and chorus.

I asked my father and to the best of his knowledge it was Ashaji singing.

I must also take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the most lovely video interview of your father (focus on Geeta Dutt) which you had uploaded earlier. It was fantastic listening to him as he recognised songs from the past and reminisced about them and other associated memories ( nice background setting too !!) ...and i do hope that you will be able to provide us some sequels to this interview ....for us to hear his observations and experiences in the company of Mohd. Rafi, Manna Dey, Talat Mahmood, Lata, Asha, Shamshad, SDBurman, Roshan, SJ and so many others .... all of whom he would have interacted with closely during recordings / sittings and other occasions.

We are indeed privileged to have you here and to get this direct link to S D Batish ji !! And also really fortunate to have members like Mahesh who are able to come up with all these gems. It would be nice if someone could come up with the songs your father was reminiscing about - from Shirin Farhad, Tipu Sultan etc.

here is a shamshad begum-s d batishji duet from madhosh[1951] picturised on meena kumari and manhar desai.hmv has not credited the male singer on the record and there was confusion about the identity of the singer.while lot of people thought it was g m durrani;nerurkar's book on madanmohanji clarified that it is s d batishji's voice.
