Last saturday I went for Mangal Pandey and the theatre played national anthem sung by Asha ji.

Any idea in which album this was released?!?!? It is definitely a recent one!

Nimii.......I guess it might be the Asha solo version from the A.R.Rahman/Bharatbala productions album "JANA GANA MANA" (which had the country's top singers and instrumentalists coming together.....and rendering solo & group versions of the National Anthem....)

Shyam is right, Nimu, regarding the album. I do not have the album--never saw it in the shops here but do have the national anthem in the voices of Asha, Lata and Parveen Sultana. Tera copy of the AB version tujhe mil jayega but if anyone wants it uled lemme know.

This is clearly a post-87 track so ul might not be kosher. I must say though that I feel soooo proud every time I listen to that album. Esp. the collated version of the anthem that has one phrase each by all the greats. That brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. blab.gif

There, I said it.

Absolutely right man!!! Same case here too........The music, the arrangement....everything......its just sooo inspirational.....so moving.....you get goosebumps everytime you hear it....... bow.gif After all Rahman!!! bow.gif smile1.gif

I still remember......guess, in 2004, I had gone to a function in Mumbai, when the Christian healer Benny Hinn, had come to India (Bombay) to conduct his 'Festival of Blessings'.......No.....not to get h ealed or anything....aise hi free pass mila tha....toh dekhne gaya tha... tongue.gif wink2.gif And there.......its a big big ground.....vast expanse of land....at the Bandra-Kurla Complex.....where most of such big events & concerts are held in Mumbai over the last few years.......and crowds in lakhs had assembled there..........And Giant screens were put up all over the place.....

And before beginning the night's proceedings....Benny Hinn requested for the Indian national anthem to be played.......and the screens lit up with first, the Collective Vocal version..... And then the Collective Instrumental version Videos from this album.........And mind you.......that experience.....was just sooooo moving..........Suddenly....I just couldn't sing along....I was completely choked....and tears streaming down my eyes........ (And I'm not a guy who cries so easily.....) And those 10 mins.......were some of the most amazingly inspirational & motivational in my life......The music just gets you fully charged up.... Most of the credit goes to the way it has been "Arranged" (If you understand what I mean...) The usage of diff instruments......various effects etc...... You must hear/see it to believe it.... smile1.gif So...BTB......I'm there for giving you company..... tongue.gif laugh.gif wink2.gif

I do have some versions from that album.......But looking for the collective instrumental one....(have the Coll. vocal with me....) and if possible the 2 videos too........Do lemme know if some1 has got it....... would be gr88 thumbs-up.gif smile1.gif

Nimii....don't miss that one....by any chance.....I may be able to PM you some of the tracks.....but if you want the complete one.....better buy the album.... (then...I can get the others from you.... tongue.gif poseur.gif wink2.gif)
