I was told that some of these songs released only on 78 rpms prior to 1957 are even not available with Indian Radio Stations like Vividh Bharti ( service was started in 1957) and other Indian FM stations and are only available with collectors & Radio Ceylon. So we can imagine the rarity of these songs.

Most welcome Mohd saab....would love to share all my collection...but sometimes unavailability of time and unavailability of the CD's ( Audio CD's recorded from cassettes - unlabelled - mixed artists - difficult to find out which CD has what )

Yes these Lata songs were on original cassettes which were produced by Pakistani companies.

Will find more rare collection and certainly upload as time permits

Nimz...Lata ji was lucky ( ofcourse I am nobody to judge her talent ) to get the CREAM of the songs/MD's in the 50's....so download any of the above song and you will find it quite good

There are no two ways about it that to listen to some of the best songs of the 50's and 60's decades - one cannot avoid the divine voice of Lata....so it really depends if you want to listen to "more" good songs ( i mean other than Asha's/Geeta's/etc songs )

I think it is totally depending on what I hear!! Kb Recommendations work only to some extent

Here's a lovely Lata number...on request from shuklas :

Krishna o kaale Krishna, Lata, Main bhi ladki hoon 1964, Chitragupt(orig tune R Sudarsanam)_RajinderKrishan

This tune was composed originally by R Sudarsanam for the Tamil film 'Naanum oru penn' 1963 (meaning - main bhi ladki hoon) and the song ( Kanna, karumai nira kanna ) was sung by P Susheela. The same tune was re-arranged by Chitragupt for the Hindi remake of the film, in the following year, with the words 'Krishna, O kaale Krishna' - sung beautifully by Lata.

Another Tamil song which was used in the same film was 'Poo pola poo pola pirakkum' sung by T M Sounderrajan and P Susheela - while the Hindi remake was sung by P B Sreenivos and Lata Mangeshkar with the words - 'Chanda se hoga woh pyara, phoolon se hoga woh nyara' (lovely song !)

This practice of repeating successful tunes when the film was re-made in a different language, was quite common in those days.
