Hey Lataji fans,
I was wondering if anyone had info on a song Dilip Kumar sang with Lataji in a film called Musafir? What was the song called and does anyone have it?

The song was "Laagi Naahi Chhoote Ram Chahe Jiya Jaaye". The song is in 2 parts and is, perhaps, the only song ever sung by Dilip Kumar.

Does Dilip sing in the film? I was told that Dilip only made a guest appearance in this and was shown only sitting on a kerb or crossing some street I cant remember... but you guyz say that he sings in the film?

Its a guest appearance all right. He also sings this song, which is a duet, with Lata Mangeshkar.

Dunno if the movie was "MUSAFIR", but Yusuf-sahab sang "Laagi nahin choote" --- I've heard him sing it live on stage. If it was a solo, he has then also recorded another song, a duet with Lata-ji.

Laagi na chhotey chaahe jiya jaaye....was the song and not laagi nahi chhote rama........a song from Bhojpuri film with the same title.

It was perheps only on the original sound track of the movie...may be he sang during dubbing only(saw the movie long time back....three heroes and three heroines ..Dilip Saab appeared only for few minutes)...full song is sung by Lataji. rolleyes.gif

Maheshji

I have the song and have heard it a few times. It starts with an aalap by Dilip and I am reasonably certain that the word "Ram" is there after "Laagi Naahi Chhute". Later Lata too repeats the line "Laagi naahi Chhute Ram, Chahe Jiya Jaaye". The song is on both the sides of 78 RPM record and is a duet by Dilip and Lata Mangeshkar. Dilip has sung it quite well. Knowing the way he used to put in a lot of effort in everything he did, I am sure that he would have rehearsed it a number of times.

The Talat - Lata duet from the 1964 Bhojpuri film Laagi Naahi Chhute Rama, Ja Ja Re Sugna Ja Re Keh De Sajanwa Se also has the same line after the initial mukhda.

Musafir is a film with three different families moving in and out of a flat....First one was a couple with suchitra Sen as the heroine...secongd was Kishore Kumar (who sang a wonderful Goanese tune: Munna Bara hoga....)Goan version: I knew the goanese song: Cheo Cheo Chi Cheo Cheo Cheo Cheo Cheo Cheo Chi...An Dirma mamuisa, ani asugasui sa, ....)

Third was Dilip Kumar....

I had the vHS (costing me $1) and again lost it....to someone cry.gif cry.gif

No , not a guest artist, Dilip had the main part in the last sequence of the film...He dies ultimately saving a crippled child of Usha Kiron
