Recently on ETV Gujarati one new program has started.."sur pancham ne mele"..mostly gazals if i am not wrong..or say sugam sangeet in akashwani's terms..

Speaking of gujarati gazals..i go back to school text books and what comes to mind are big names like..Mariz..Befam..Aadil mansuri..Amrut Ghayal.....

Manhar udhas has voiced beautifully many of such gazals in gujarati in albums such as Aabhushan, Aagman, Abhinandan, Avsar etc..

I have got them in mp3 format but don't know how to upload..can somebody refer me to the correct link in HF..

any takers of such gazals ?

And yes..i want to finish this 50 post limit soon..i am getting frustrated that i can't download gems posted by others..particularly from the other thread started by me!

i have figured out how to upload..but, unfortunately, my proxy is not allowing me to upload..

I am just wondering..is it ok to upload to file sharing servers such as rapidshare.com for time being untill i solve the problem on my system..

Wonderful topic! Even Purushottam Upadhyay, Hansa Dave, Soli Kapadia, Nisha Upadhyay, and many other singers have sung quite a few ghazals. I do have some collection of these singers. May be we can start by listing the ghazals. I also have a few from Jagjit Singh's Hastakshar series. Its fantastic stuff! I will list down my collection later on. I will have to dig in the box for them.

What is this ETV? Sorry but I am not in India so havent heard of this before. Is this an audio program or video? Is it online? I'd love to listen to the songs on there.

I too have quite a few ghazals, will list them down...

Chitralekha, ETV is a television channel like Zee, Star etc... It has various regional channels and ETV Gujarati is one of them. It is available here in India and in Gulf and if I am not wrong I have seen it somewhere in US too...

ETV is group of regional TV channel..and gujarati is one of that..since it is free to air satellite channel..you can view it in US..provided you are falling into footprint area of satellite who is airing it..I am receiving it in middle east without much hassel..

Well, the program i mentioned is not that great..a kind of talent search program..where newbies are allowed to sing gujarati sugam sangeet..and it is coming up..

BTW you can create list by using the DOS in foloowing way..

Go to directory in which you have songs..

Do the DIR >list.txt at the command prompt..

open the list.txt in the same directory and edit it. You may use it to create list files from any directory..quite usefull if you have thousands of file in a directory and you want to index it..

yes i distinctly remember when i use to listen to gujarati ghazals almost daily throughout the day, with a (langotia) friend of mine.
We even use to sit and set (play guitar and keyboard/harmonium) quite a few of those ghazals.
In those times, we got our hands on some ghazals/songs like "kahun choon jawaani ne" and "divso judaai naa jaay che" (Rafi), "pankhiyo e kalshor karyo" (Manna Dey), "sarki jaaye pal" (Hariharan) etc..
"saanjh naa doobi jataa e surya ne, te pachi joyaa karoon choo hoon tane" (Manhar).

and amongst writers, i LOVED Barkat Virani (Befaam).
"Befaam toy thaaki javaayu, baqi javu hatu ghar thi kabar sudhi"
and
"Gani Dahiwala"
"jo hraday ni aag vadhi 'Gani', to Khud ishwar-ej krupa kari
koi shwaas bandh kari gayu, ke pawan naa jaaye agan sudhi.
Maaro haath jhaali ne lai jashe...."
oh!! haji pan jyaare e saambhdu chu tyaare aa sher aawtaa j runwaata ubhaa thai jaay che !!

I newer knew that even manna dey has sung in gujarati..i am becoming tal-papad to listen such rarities..well, visit to home this time will be quite busy..need to ferret these songs from anywhere...

Talking about gujarati gazals..something new from me..may be for you too...

Dhaval, I dont have all of those songs with me. I have just made a list for my information and for friends. Wish I had all of them... when I make a trip to India, this is one of the main things I'd like to do. I have only a few of them and I'll try and upload those in a few days.

Btw, where are you trying to download these from? From my site on yahoo? Where is it that you click? Cuz I dont see any links where you can click to download. Pls let me know.
