Starting a new thread for some video clips of Madam's films, songs, music programs, clips of her speaking and so on.

The first one is from one of her early films--Khandaan.

The video is clear tho the audio is hissy. But who does not have the audio!!!

This one is from Tarannum.
Neeyat-e-shauqh bhar na jaaye kahin
Tu bhi dil se utar na jaaye kahin....

(the same song was later rendered by Asha Bhosle in her album Kashish)

Many legends sang in this show, many aspiring singers too. But no one displayed the josh and pure enjoyment that Madam did. She was the guest, so to speak, but her humming and clapping hands which inspired the audience to do the same is amazing. Wonderful personality.

Glad U liked them Ummer. Nice to be able to provide something here. Got the Khandaan video from a collector. The video is clear but a few songs are missing. Only the popular ones are included. Probably to keep the film to 2 discs.

Regarding the article, U are part of RMIM hai na, it is a Vish K original? I have just seen it on the RMIM archives.
The same Vish K in another article compares Asha and Madam in the context of the Kashish ghazals and finds Asha wanting. A diff in schooled conditioned singing and natural singing according to him!!!!

I do have the article par kahan se dhoondoon--my comp has an Asha folder with more than 50 articles from the net and a Madam folder with some 30 plus articles--ab kisme save kiya hoga?

In the mid '80s, our very own Asha Bhonsle took a turn from her usual R.D.
Burman fare, and decided to experiment with the ghazal for a while. Was it
the Khaiyyaam influence of Umrao Jaan? Just a guess. In any event, she
released 3 albums. One was a joint collection with A. Hariharan, the second
was with Ghulam Ali (Meeraj-E-Ghazal) and third one, titled KASHISH was a
triibute to Noor Jehan. In this collection, she sings some Noor Jehan originals.

I am tempted to suggest that Asha does really well in some songs. My
favourites from this album (as my favourites from the corresponding Noor Jehan
originals) are:

and Mohsin Razaa's

It is in the context of this album that I make my last point of this
dissertation. Noor Jehan’s originals were all rendered in the '60s and '70s.
And they all have a sense of pristine and raw quality about them. This is
a different Noor Jehan we hear from her days in Bombay. The Asha homage by
contrast is highly normalized, and I might suggest, tame.

I've seen madam in real life.I was very young then .I still remember she was very tall and had an extremely charismatic personality. she was wearing a beautiful sari and was fully decked up just like in her music videos.
