I used to have the EP that had two wonderful songs sung by Kishori Amonkar and tuned by Hridaynath Mangeshkar:

- jaa_iin vichaarit raanaphulaa

- he shyaamasundar raajasaa

The EP is long lost, and I have been trying in vain to find these songs on cassette/CD. Does anyone have these two beauties?

Warm regards,
Abhay

Hi Abhay,
Nice to see someone who likes Kishori Amonkar's songs. Well, I just have "He Shyam Sundar" from your request.
By the way, I also have two of her Abhangs, "Mee Maajhe Mohit" and "Avagha to Shakun". Let me know if you'd want them uploaded.

'jaa_iin vichaarit raanaphulaa' - any chance of this one being uploaded?

'he shyaamasundar raajasaa' is astonishingly beautiful. I always thought that Hridaynath reserved the best of his tunes for his 2 great sisters.

Regards-Archie.

Yes Lata, this song has two different versions. Personally, I like the Bhimsen Joshi song better.
In fact "Bolaava Vitthal, Pahaava Vitthal" posted above ,also has another version sung by Jitendra Abhisheki.

I too liked Pt Bhimsen Joshi one better. smile1.gif

Here it is: Kishori Amonkar singing Shanta Shelke's words to Hridayanath Mangeskhar's music.

I have been listening to it non-stop for the last 2 days - and still don't tire of it. Hope you folks enjoy it as much!

Warm regards,
Abhay

Dear Abhay,

Many many thanks!

The proprietor of The Maharashtra Watch & Gramophone Shop at Ranade Road, Dadar had promised me that he will record the song in an empty cassette for me. However, your generosity has helped me!

Regards-Archie.

Dear Mandrake: We have heard the composer composing other masterly tunes for his talented sisters but we seldom get to hear Moghubai's daughter sing such bewitching bhavgeets.

Abhay,
Can't blame you for your non-stop "paraayaN" of this song. It's done the same thing to me. Just finished listening to it for the sixth time within the last hour....the song has a mesmerizing effect. Thanks again !!!
