Just heard the flute piece!!! That was awesome!!!!!
Aaja tak yahan flute pieces ki farmaish hoti thi, par hum poora recital mangte hain. The flute and the sitar are just my fav instruments. The sitar thrills, while the flute soothes and makes one feel nostalgic and kind of soft. Please ul a long recording, plz plz plz.

i have heard pradeep ji's aaj jaane ki zidd its hillarious maut bhi aa gayi ho... is too good... lucky wife to have him singing songs for her... kya baat hai HF main koi wife ke liye gaana gaata hai koi sketches banaata hai...

i have been having hard time following some part of the conversation and that was all because i missed the HF original and Guns and roses... Priya as usual you sang wonderfully and Unni as usual very extraordinary....

last but not the least... aiso gaye pardes.. by Imraan, its a beautiful song and i heard the original only a few days ago... you did full justice to the song and yes T ji is right theres something nice about a guy singing a song originally sung by a female artist...

Thanks Priya. Agree with you, probably one of the most majestic and soothing sights in the world. Raag Bibhas is a rather rare raaga, very beautiful. You've surely heard "Saanjh Dhale, Gagan Taley" from Utsav - it's in Raag Bibhas. Very difficult to play it, won't promise but will try. If it comes out well, then I will upload.

Kayi mahinon se hum aksar RR mein miltey rahein hain. Wahaan tau sirf mard log maujood hain. Aur hum mein se ek bhi na aapke avtaar pe shiqayat ki. Ab dekhiye aapka kya haal bana rakkha hai. Is dhaagey mein maujood hone ki wajah se, aapko avtaar badalna pada. Bachke rehna, nahin tau ek din aapko apna naam bhi badalna padega. Women power!

Kya karoon Unni. Nahiin to yeh ladkiyaan "ji" "ji" bulaakar khamkhwaa mujhe budhaape ki yaad dilaati hain. Aapki salaah sar aaknhon par, aakhir women power se ham bhi to waaqif hain- khuda na khaasta kahiin lene ke dene na pad jaaye, kyon ?

WOW.... didnt know bibhaas was a morning raaga either ..... my fav numbers are the morning ones ... something very soothing and refereshign abt them ..... (there are many in Marathi called bhoopali ... kind of similar to 'jyothi kalash chhalke' ...)

Yes, Morning raagas are my favorite too, there is certainly a freshness about them. They are also very spiritual and steeped in Bhakti Rasa and Viraha Rasa.
Some Bhoopali info for you: Bhoopali is not a morning raaga, it's actually a late evening/early night raaga. Jyoti Kalash Chalke is in Raag Bhoopali, and so is the Malgudi Days tune I played, as well as many others like Dekha Ek Khwab to, Pankh Hoti to Ud Aati Re etc. Bhoopali is a popular raaga of Hindustani Classical repertoire, it's not unique to Marathi or any other language for that matter. The equivalent raaga in Carnatic music is Mohanam.

Actually a very sweet morning song in Marathi .. "Utha Utha O Sakalik" is in Bhoopali .. which is what confused my musically primitive mind to associate Bhoopali == morning ! So also the early morning picturization of 'Jyothi Kalash Chhalke"...

As a layman's comment ... surprising that an evening raaga has so much energy, freshness and vigor ..with ref to all the film songs you mentioned ... aargh...what the heck !! .. i shd just keep my mouth shut and enjoy the music ! jahaan bhi munh kholoon... only my ignorance comes out !

Hey Nimi, you're not too bad! Pretty good, in fact. Honest!
I'm sure you've been singing along with songs, because you seem to know the highs-lows/nuances pretty well, even evident in this 22-second piece.
One minor crib... I think in the original, Ashaji says 'nigaah', not 'nigaahen'.
But I'd be disappointed if it emerges in the future that it's your daadi's singing.
And the Superman singing Nakhrewaali is very good too! Wonder who it is... No, they're not my golden vocals, guys. They're being burnished. (True story: My mom, who's learnt classical music and sings very well even 40 years on, would tell me to please not to sing in a deliberately pathetic manner. She actually thought I was trying to sing badly on purpose! )

A sad story, Preety-ji, a very sad story... here I'd be trying to sing like a pro, eyes closed, one hand on my left ear, the other extended away... and my mom would tell me: "R, why are you singing badly? Listen, sing this way..."
But I found a solution. I would blast the music so high that she'd run away, and I'd drown my voice in the blast from the speakers.

Why? The old friends find it tough to keep up with things?

My sister, a really excellent singer, with some classical training, used to sing with a hand on her ear... and I used to ape her. Not successfully, though.

Gosh...was away for two days and missed 10 pages of fun, clips and education!!! Feels like trying to get into a running train!!!
