So, here is a Pakistani band Junoon's song I sang 2 years back. The punjabi song, titled 'Muk Gaye Nae' was featured on their album released in 1997. Luckily, I cannot speak punjabi, so excuse any mistakes you might find in my rendition.

Nahi re. My grandparents were there so the last time I went there was before my Grandad retired. Maybe when I was about 6 or so. Have the lovely memory of seeing the hospital I was born in and walking down a lovely bridge and seeing teh vast undergrowth below and a mother fox--lovely red--with her cubs--a picture etched in memory. The place where my folks stayed was really beautiful--colonial kind of quarters and lovely plants and flowers.
Uske baad my grandparents came to Madras so never went back to Bihar.

Imran you sing very well, have you had training? Can you please translate the Punjabi number? It sounds very interesting. Also, interesting choice there - both are "female" songs? I don't know if it's just me, but I find "female" songs in a male voice strangely appealing. Maybe it translates to "he understands how I feel" kind of thing in my subconscious. So that was very nice, thank you. You sing very very Sur Mein, but then what do I know? Sa Re Ga Ma Pa mein many a times the judges choose an entirely different horse!!

Sometimes female songs sung in a male voice carry more weight, or so I think.

Try as you might the big B style isn't going to suit you as much as the Pied piper look did!!

Junoon is one of my fav bands, although I am not sure if they are still around making music. Their Sayyonee number became quite popular few years ago. The most amazing thing about them was that there are only three people in the group - Lead guitar, Bass guitar and tabla, and yet, all the songs they made sound so full! The sufi fusion style was also quite novel when they came out with their first album.

Thank you for liking the songs. I think my being able to sing for nearly 5 mins at a stretch has to do with trying to sing along to songs when I was growing up, be it Indian, Pakistani or English.

The first song was originally sung by Ali Azmat for Junoon's 1997 album which also featured Sayyonee. Azmat also has a solo album out now & I believe it has been released in India. The second song is from another Pakistani band, Fuzon, from their album Saagar, which is also being sold in India. The singer of this band Shafqat Amanat Ali, is the youngest son of Ustad Amanat Ali Khan. I don't know if you get B4U & ZeeMusic, but I think you can catch this song's video there.

Pranav, Junoon is indeed still making music, though their Bass player has been replaced. The vocalist is pursuing a solo career as well, so not sure how far they've to go, but its been a long journey, almost 15 years now. Sufi fusion style wasn't on their first album, it was the first album that India got to hear.

All you need is the small clip-on mike you can pick up at a computer or electronics store.

Connect it to the Mike Input socket on your computer.

Switch on the Mike and clip it on.

Select 'Microphone' as the sound source in your recording software (e.g. Goldwave).

Click on the 'Record' tab on your software screen.

Start singing!

Save the recording as a file, on your computer.

The recording volume level can be adjusted later by changing it to the Default Volume in your software.
