bye.gif Hi all......

Well, I thought of starting this thread, to discuss and share some good fusion works that you people may have heard......Any kind of fusion (definitely...with Indian music involved) will do.....smile.gif

I will start by recommending a really good album... gift.gif ..Well, this one's a totally different album......Supposedly an out-an-out Devotional/Spiritual album, but as far as I'm concerned, one of the best FUSION works I've heard of late......The album is about 2 years old now, a TIMES MUSIC presentation by the name "VISHWA VINAAYAKA". The music has been composed by a new duo AJAY-ATUL......and singers like S.P.Balasubramaniam and Shankar Mahadevan have collaborated on this album. There are 6 tracks in it, all of them Sanskrit content....slokas and aartis......But the Best part is...........all the songs have been arranged in a totally different way......The slokas and songs with Symphony Orchestral music!!!! The instrumentalists who have collaborated on this album...also are really great names.....some of the best in the industry.....(Well......this is no kind of re-mix as people may term most of such work.......no fast tracks...with preset beats and poor stuff.......) This one is real slow, beautiful music....spiritual music...that really grows on you....and making you want more each time you listen to it........I'm a die-hard fan of this album since day ONE......and I thought it would be nice to recommend it to you....and discuss about it........smile.gif One thing more.....I request all music lovers to listen to this album.....irrespective of religion, creed, caste etc......Don't go by the name and content......If you love good music.....You sure gonna enjoy this!!!! Go for it!!! smile1.gif gift.gif

I also request all of you to join the discussion.......and contribute your recommendations and opinions.......smile1.gifsmile1.gifsmile1.gif

Two of my favorite fusion albums that are based on classical music are:
1. Piya Bawari by the Pohankar fater & son duo. An absolute beauty of an album.
2. Naina Piyase by Ustad Rashid Khan where he has sung Amir Khusro's poetry.

Amongst instrumental music, my favorites:
1. Out of the Blue: Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia
2. Eternity: Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia
2. Making Music: Zakir Hussain

Get'em before they're deleted 'coz they're worth it.

Making Music features Hariprasad Chaurasia, Jan Garbarek, John McLaughlin besides Zakir Hussain himself. The tracks are
1. Making Music
2. Zakir
3. Water Girl
4. Toni
5. Anisa
6. Sunjog
7. You and Me
8. Sabah

Eternity has only two tracks: Srishti and Mukti.
