I think it was Preeto nika jiya.
There was also a line in this song:
main dudh pee jaan vaTTee, preeto nikaa jiyaa

Heard a lot of times in the good old days from Amritsar
Jallundhar stations. I may be wrong but the singer was
Parkash Kaur.
In those days a radio recording by Ritu Daman was also
frequently played:
meraa Dig pyaa kidhre jhumkaa Jalundhar sail krendii daa
.. and also a RR by some male singer:
tere husan dii katcheri laggii, te dooron dooron aun chagDe

Yes, I have heard a couple of time: tuun kahda patwari.

Virji, mera dig payaa kidhre was a radio recording lasting about 6/7
minutes, not a 78rpm recording. There was another radio recording
often aired:
uche chobaare main khaDee, ve Dhola khaDee sukaanii aan main kais
rus rus jaandaa meraa jobnaa, kahnuun malii beThon pardes
Dholia ve, meraa maaf kariin kuchh bolyaa
I am not sure but I think the singer was Mohinder Kaur.
I am sure AIR Jalundhar must be having these in their library.

Just curious, how do you decide precisely how much to stretch or compress a song?

I take out about one minute piece from the recording, make out two or three
editings. Listen to them, decide which one sounds normal/near normal to me
and make a final copy. I always keep the original.
