Dhananjay
Hi Folks,
As a kid, the kind of songs that I liked the most was Marathi Baal-Geete. Just to cite an example, a day before every Maths exam, I'd have butterflies fluttering in my stomach. That’s when I’d remember the lines
“Bholanath udya ahe ganitaacha paper,
Potaat maajhya kal yeun dukhal ka re dhopar”.

And there was the song that eventually became my childhood anthem:
“Pustak nantar vaacha,
Aata khela naacha”

So here’s a new thread for all those Baal-geete. Looking forward to an enthusiastic response from you all.

For starters, here are the two songs mentioned above :

Arre Priya,
Itna bada "please" ? Yahaan sab log ekdum "low maintenance" hain ... You won't have to try so hard to get information from us !! tongue.gif
Anyways, coming back to your question. These songs are from the album - "Chocolatecha Bangla" ("A bungalow made of chocolate" - a wild fantasy of a child).
The album was composed by Meena Khadikar (Meena Mangeshkar, before marriage). She is a lesser known entity among the Mangeshkar siblings. The songs were sung by her kids Yogesh & Rachna Khadikar, alongwith Shyama Khale. Following are the details of each song :

1. Konas Thauk Kasa - Shyama Khale
2. Saang Saang Bholanath - Yogesh & Rachna Khadikar
3. Asava Sundar Chocolatecha Bungla - Shyama Khale, Yogesh & Rachna Khadikar
4. Pustak Nantar Vacha - Shyama Khale, Yogesh & Rachna Khadikar

Hope you like them. Let me know in case you need the "gist/complete translation" of "any/all" songs (I figured this would be a much easier task than translating "Kanada Vo vitthalu", posted by Lata laugh.gif )

Priya,
Tumhe rota hua (" cry.gif ") dekh ke humko bahut achha lagta hai tongue.gif .. That's why we keep withholding this info.
Actually, all these songs (with no singer names), are from the same album - "Chocolatecha bungla". It's the same team as mentioned my previous reply.

1. Time to show some patriotic zeal - with the first song here :
"He Rashtra Devataanche"
Movie : Gharkul,
Singer - Rani Verma
Lyrics : Ga Di Madgulkar
Music : C. Ramchandra

2. And never mess with this kid :
"Khodi maajhi kaadhal tar" - Shyama Khale

Priya JI (out of GENUINE respect), it is a humbling experience to see how a 3300+ post-er takes the playful digs of a <50 post-er in such a sporting manner. Much to learn from you. bow.gif

And about the parameters of a baal geet - essentially the content should be from a child's point of view. If sung by a child artiste, even better. But a grown up lady/gent singing to a child will usually not be a baal-geet.
That's my perception. Though I am sure somebody will question me whether Rafi's 'hasaa mulaano hasaa' is a baal geet or not.
To me, it is not.

LOL!!!! I have never thought of number of posts or age or any such thing as a criterion for friendly interaction. Esp on a small close knit forum like this one which I am very happy to be part of despite my ignorance and singular obsession with Asha. tongue.gif
Thanks for the 'definition' of baalgeet. But in films so many have been sung by senior artists, na? I believe Usha Mangeshkar has sung a huge numbers of baalgeet?

A few more requests Dhananjay and Mandrake........the famous jinku kinwa maru. I think its sung by Mahendra Kapoor na? Jayostute shree mahanmangale by Mangeshkar family and shoor amhi saradar by Pt. Hridayanath mangeshkar.
Mandrake
Dhananjay, since we are moving away from the baal-geete section, either we should start a new thread for patriotic songs, or since it is rather late, rename the thread appropriately.

Wot say?
Mandrake
Lata, here you go:

Jayostute shri mahanmangale....

Lyrics: None other than the immortal Vinayak Damodar Savarkar

Music: 'Baal' Mangeshkar

Raag: Shankara (what else could it be? wink2.gif)
Lata
Thanks a ton Mandrake smile1.gif I have a request for a song. It goes like this I think namaskaar majha ya dnyaan mandira...satyam shivam sundara..... I dont know who the singer is or have any other information. I have heard it when I was very small. If some kind soul can help smile1.gif bow.gif

Mandrake,
My apologies, if I seemed to digress doh.gif .... Actually the patriotic song I uploaded was sung by Rani Verma when she was a kid. In fact, it was also picturised on a kid in the movie.
I still have a few more cards up my sleeve, for baal-geete. I plan to upload those too.
As for patriotic songs, unfortunately I don't have many with me !!!! If you have a decent number of those, we could start a new thread. Else I'll modify the current thread to accomodate them. Lemme know what seems fine !!!

I will be grateful if any one can share these songs -

Singer: Asha Bhonsle and Usha Mangeshkar

Aai Vhavhi Mulgi Majhi
Singer: Usha Mangeshkar

Kalakichya Tokavar Tanlay Dor
Singer: Yogesh Khadikar

Vihinbai Vihinbai Utha Aata Utha
Singer - Sushama Shreshta

Hi Nilay,

One of your requests:

Song: Kon Aavade Adhik Tula
Singers: Asha Bhosle & Usha Mangeshkar
Music: Srinivas Khale
Lyrics: GaDiMa
128kbps/6:54

Asha sings for the girl explaining why she likes her 'Baba' and Usha sings for the boy who likes his 'Aai' more. Though some of the 'arguments' may not be valid in today's world of men-women equality, it is still a very cute balgeet...hats-off to GaDiMa!

At the end the girl seems to be winning the argument...they always do, don't they wink.gif !

Listen & enjoy!

Regards
Sunil.
