I have a 4 CD set of Raag Guide by Nimbus Records.
This is basically very useful for persons who want to learn a little bit about Raags. Each Raag is treated in a short recording of about 3 to 6 minutes while including all the features of the Raag including the Alaap
There are 74 recordings - if any one is intrested I can upload the same.
Best Regards

Neki aur pooch pooch ? Pls U/L. Since 74 u/l isn't going to be easy, you could put several short tracks into a folder and zip folders together.

Though I have reduced the bit rate somewhat to reduce the file size, the quality of the recording is stil VERY HIGH.
Need your feed back to know if I should continue with the uploads.

Billu ji,
You're right, even at 32 kbps it sounded great on my computer. Hopefully it'll hold the promise on my Dolby Surround system when I get home.

I guess in this case the reduced bitrate is the least of my concerns. Can you tell me some more about the contents of the booklet? I don't think I can learn anything from just listening to these, I'd probably need some lessons in the theory too.

Yes, I did refer to that URL, which is how I realised there's a book. I just needed to know if the book would be useful to someone like me who is totally clueless about Raagas

, hence I was trying to get some feedback from you. I guess I didn't explain properly

. Nevermind, I think a friend of mine has something similar if not the same set, I'll give it a once over and see if it works for me. Thanks a lot.

Hi Bibhas,

Of course the 128 kbps sounded better but even the 32kbps is of very good quality, so I leave it to your convenience for the remaining uploads. On another note, I'm unable to extract Bhairavi from the second set of raagas you uploaded. The other four from this set came through fine. Could you upload that track again ?
thanks

Bibhas Ji,
You are right, that file had not been uploaded correctly and I have now replaced it with the correct one.
For now I shall continue to upload all the 74 raags at the lower birate - at my pace.

Here is another site:
http://sarangi.info/sarangi/ragamala.htmYou can download the tracks (and they have lots of them) for Raag Parichay. It has Khurshid Anwar’s commentary with a brief raga renditions by the most well known Pakistani Kheyal singers.
Thanks

I thought it would be interesting to check whether there are such other recordings available that are a max of 3-5 minutes duration, which will help a learner to understand raags better.
Granted, this 74-raag compilation is massive, but there would still be raags like Shivranjani that are fairly common in sugam sangeet, but are not played/sung regularly in albums.
Can the connoisseurs here shed some light?

Here is another one-
http://www.itcsra.org/sra_others_samay_index.htmlMost of the major ragas are covered here. These are presented by Mashkoor Ali Khan & Subhra Guha. You can listen to them ONLINE, but can't download in WMA or MP3 format. I will have to check my PC to see if I have MP3 compilation of this. If anyone interested I can search & upload.
Thanks.

Billu-ji, thanks for set # 3. Can't wait for set #4 since that includes Bilaskhani Todi, one of my favorites. Does the book define the notation they use for HCM ? Some of the phrases are a little confusing to me the way they've notated them.
