One of the finest exponents of the traditional thumri, geet and ghazal. I had the pleasure of witnessing a live performance a few months ago and just cannot get over it. Here is a traditional baramasa - poor recording but great rendition. I do have a sparse collection of her recordings and would be obliged if other fans could add to it...

I had the pleasure of meeting her and her husband personally during one of the house concerts that I was invited to very graciously by the host. Totally unpretentious both of them are. Shipra Bose, who received training from none other than Thumri queen Begum Akhtar sings in her style and very well.

Delighted - and really look forward to the u/ls. We could meet them for about an hour before their performance (my wife is a huge fan) and like you mention, both of them were very unassuming. Gobind Bose has played with some of the greats - Amir Khan, Nikhil Banerjee, etc. and the last time he toured our area was with Vilayat Khan! And like her guru, Sipra has what we would call a "khandaani" andaaz.
